PICNIC

A few hours later, after you and Tyler reach your destination. you guys have the best time of your lives. in the late afternoon, you feel your legs burning as you finally crest the hill you've been trekking and find yourself at the top of a cliff overlooking the lake. "there she is. the woman of the hour" said tia "you sure took your time" said chad "well, maybe if someone hadn't decided to hold this picnic at the top of the cliffs of insanity I would've been here a little sooner" I said "all I'm hearing is excuses, y/n" said cory. you take your place on the blanket beside your friends and brother. a cooler full of beverages sits next to shopping bags full of food. "you didn't start without me? color me impressed." I said "you should be. I don't know of any torture worse than staring at a bag of Korean chips and not being able to eat them." said garret "but now that you're here.." said tia. there's a small scuffle as everyone tears into the food at once. chips bag fly through the air, grapes roll away down the hill. when everyone's finally eating happily, you take an ice-cold drink from the cooler and lift it in the air. "I'd like to make toast" I said "is it to garret and his mind-blowing taquito-making skills?" asked garret "I have heard that MY taquitos are legendary" said Tyler. you laugh but continue, letting yourself grow solemn "I don't want to bring everyone down, but...I think it's important we remember the people we lost" I said. the mood around the picnic shifts as your friend's gazes turn inward . "you didn't know my parents, my mother Angeline and my dad matt. they were....the greatest parents anyone could ever ask for "I know...they were so kind to us during our high school days" said Coby. you pause a moment choking back tears. when you've gathered yourself, you continue. "mom never stopped protecting us. even as she died, she used the last of her strength to leave us a warning. i can only hope that now, now that the people responsible for their deaths are dead themselves, our parents can finally rest in peace." i said "we've been through a lot, we've seen things no one should ever see" said Cody "so let's make sure to be kind to each other, but most importantly be kind to ourselves" said Tyler "each one of us is brave and amazing no matter what hardships we face, remember what we did" I said "remember that if you survived this you can survive anything" said Coby. you raise your drink high in the air. the whole gathering raises their glasses "to friendship!" i said "may we be together until we're in our 80s!" said coby laughing. you all drink deeply, letting the memory of those you've lost take hold.once the grave air has subsided, you resume eating. as the serious atmosphere gives away, you take a moment to watch your friends, talking and laughing, and you're filled with warmth.

"uuuugggghhh, i'm so full i can't move. you're gonna have to roll me down the hill" said coby "haha chubby dubby" said cory "guys, we ought to get back before it gets dark" said tyler "they're going pretty soon.i might be able to grab one of them to hang  out" i thought to myself. you catch coby's eye from across the picnic.He smiles warmly in the golden light of the late afternoon. "hey cobes. think you could give me a hand with something?" i asked "oh, sure!" said Coby. you nod to the others as you both make your way out of the gathering and into the woods beyond. "what'd you need my help with?" asked Coby "nothing, i actually just wanted to kiss you.." I said "ooooh, well why didn't you say so?" asked coby. as you close the distance between you, he wraps his arms around your waist. you tilt your head and capture his lips with your own. you step up on your tippy toes to deepen the kiss. it's full of passion and hunger and when you both seperate. you both are breathing hard. "wow" said Coby , you give him a smirk . "well that was good.." said coby blushing . you both walk back holding each other's hand.
