It was a cold, rainy, morning, suprisingly. It was March, and it'd had been sunny for a week. But it seems it just went right back to cold, and depressing, in a flash. Jeff and I always walk to school together. I always stop at his house to pick him up, and we walk from there. I like walking with him in the morning. He makes me forget about what waking up to misery feels like. I made my way down the street to his house, and something catches me off guard. Police cars were parked infront of his home, and his mother, father, and his younger brother who is now 6 were standing talking to a police officer. Panic hit me hard inside. I lost my breath. My feet started up, and i began to just endlessly run to the house. "What happend?" "Where is he?" I yelled. Jeff's family turned around, and the officer stared straight ahead right at me. He gave me the coldest look. "Young lady, come
Here." He said, inviting me over. The panic took over, comepletly. "Was Jeff with you last night?" He asked me looking right in my eyes. I took my contact away from
Him, and i could still feel him looking straight at me. "I, um, yeah. Yes i was with him." I responded. He wrote something down on his notepad, and im guessing it was my response. "Do you know where he is?" He asked me. "No, i don't. Really. I'm confused too officer." The officer shut his notepad and said, "we will do our best to find him." And he walked away, and got in his car. The other police offers did the same thing. They took off with their loud sirens running. I turned to face Jeff's family. Tears swelled in his mother eyes. She layed her hand on Jeff's younger brother Lui's shoulder. Lui looked like he cried, really fucking hard. And Jeff's dad just looked really deeply depressed. "Um-" i began to say, but i stopped when they all looked down at me at once. "What happend? Where's Jeff? Is he missing?" I asked them. "He disapeared last night about 4 hours after he walked home. Whenever he came home, i asked him where he was. And he said, "i was with Jane, and i slept over." I wasn't okay with that, but i figured it already happend, and i trusted you anyways Jane. I nodded at his mothers words. He looked a little rough, did he get injured?" Jeff's mother asked. "Yeah, actally. I know you may be mad mam, but we went in the woods. He went to grab something, and he fell and hit his thigh on a rock. Jeff's mother just looked concerned. "I did my best to help him though. I treated the wound." I responded trying to reasure her. I'm glad i didn't tell her that he almost drowned. Then we definitely wouldn't be aloud to hang out anymore. "Thank you for being there for him Jane, he really needs someone like you to be friends with." Jeff's mother said. "You're welcome" i said with a smile. "I'll let you know if i hear from him." I said, and i began to walk away to school.
