I watch as my dad sighs and heads to his room. I finishing putting dinner on the plates and wash my hands. I gently knock on the  door. "Dad, I made dinner," I call. After a moment, he opens the door. He is still dressed in his hero costume.

"Can you put it in a container? And make one for Aizawa? I have patrol tonight," he says. He rushes around the house, trying to find everything he needs for work. I nod and head back to the kitchen. I begin putting two bento boxes together. I get a yellow box with music notes on it for my dad and a black box with cat skeletons for Aizawa.

"Is Aizawa stopping by here?" I ask. I get a grunt of confirmation in response. You see, Aizawa is my homeroom teacher and my dad's best friend. Not to mention he is a pro-hero. I pack the boxes in a small bag to keep them warm. The doorbell rings and I rush to get it.

"Listen, Hizashi- Oh, it's you. Where is your dad?" Aizawa asks. My heart drops. He sounded so disappointed to see me. I point inside and he stumble through the door. I move to steady him, he smells like alcohol. He waves me off and stumbles some more.

"Hizashi! Hizashi! Where are you?" Aizawa calls. My dad pokes his head out of his room. "Hey! Wait. Are-are you drunk?" Dad asks. I nod silently behind Aizawa. Dad's eyes widen. He wraps an arm around his friend. I am worried. This isn't the Aizawa I know.

"Alright. Let's sit you down," Dad says. He guides Aizawa to the couch and sits him down. Dad tells me to go to my room. I don't want to. I want to know what's going on. Aizawa is always so stoic and strong willed. The only other time I have seen Aizawa like this was on his birthday last year. I know he has been struggling recently but I didn't know it was this bad.

I stand in the hallway, out of sight, and listen to what is going on. "Dude, what has gotten into you?" Dad asks.

"You know, insomnia fucking sucks," Aizawa growls.

"Is that was this is about?"

"Yea. No. Have I ever told you about Kari?"

"Yes. Several times. What happened this time?" Dad sounds so tired. It's like they have switched bodies.

"She took the cat and ran."

"I'm sorry man. But we both know that that isn't what's wrong. Look-"

"You. don't. understand. Hizashi! She took the cat!" Aizawa cries. I hear my dad sigh and begin to get up. I rush to my room and pretend to be... reading? The book is upside down but whatever.

"Sweetheart? I have to go on patrol. Can you watch him?" my dad asks. I nod my head and follow him to the living room. Aizawa is lying on the couch, struggling to figure out the tv remotes. I help him get to the channel he wants. He hums happily and curls farther into the cushions.
