Why are we doing this again?

So, these next-generation headcanons come from my imagination and are properly explained in another story of mine. Also I know that James, Lily and Teddy simply can't be in the same year, but I just prefer them to be in the same year. Let's go!

Plus the new gang are going into their sixth year :)

A normal evening at the Potter household, a firework set off at dinner, whether it was Lily or James was debatable, another rant about James' dearly beloved Alice, who he had finally won over and was planning to visit over the later holidays. Harry talked up his latest feat as Head Auror, a raid on the old Lestrange vault, which as he described and had seen in his seventh year, to have held many dark objects. He piled the dirty dishes into a rack for the now even more elderly Kreacher to clean up later and sent his children to bed.

Lily, however, was having nothing of that, she and James crept up to the decrepit attic above her bedroom to see what else they could scourage for. Last time they had ventured up there, James had gotten his ear bitten by a particularly nasty biting teacup, though that didn't stop him now.

Teddy tailed them up the ladder, but alerted them to his presence with a large creak from the rickey ladder.

"Moonshoes, my dear, why are you following us" Lily gave an enquiring look down to Ted, sending a cloud of unsavory dust his way.

"Indeed my brother, surely you have the dearest Vic to fret over" James joined the questionnaire.

Teddy gave them a sour, knowing look, "Listen, I know about the teacup, so does your mother James, you aren't subtle, I want to make sure you aren't killed. Plus, there could be some cool stuff up here anyways"

They pulled him upwards, and all sat on their knees, admiring the glistening, ancient jewels hanging from the rafters, and the newer looking boxes containing photographs. Teddy pulled out a polaroid photo that said it was taken in the summer of '94, when their parents stayed at their home during the start of the second war.

It was a simple muggle picture, but you could see a young Harry Potter smiling at the camera with their Uncle Ron. It was clearly taken by Aunt Hermione, next to where it lay were several other photos, Teddy took two photos, containing his parents and shoved them into his pockets for later inspection.

"Dad'll kill you if he finds out that we've been snooping" Lily protested as James also 'stole' a few embarrassing photos of other family members and Sirius.

"Eh, who says we'll get caught anyway?" Teddy gruffly replied, head deep in a silver chest of amulets, "Look, this necklace's got some runes on it, James, aren't you doing ancient runes?"

"Dropping it this year, you know I only chose it for Alice, only got an A in my OWLs of course"

Lily snorted, but then dropped her amused demeanor,

"But, I've read beginner runes books from mum, and these are really, truly ancient runes, dangerous ones at that I believe"

At that, James snatched the amulet and examined it, suddenly it began shimmering and letting off a sound not dissimilar to a kettle. James promptly dropped it, but the damage was done.

The room began to spin, all three of their scream blended into one. After what seemed like hours, but was only seconds of tormenting, everything stopped. Except one tiny detail,

Lily, James and Teddy were gone.
