He was just sitting there. His head in his hands and his knees drawn right up to his chin. His hair was as dark as the mud on the beach. The wind howling round about us. Seagulls' fighting against the ferocious winds, the sky was as dark as coal, the sea mirrored nothing. It was like the sea wanted the boy to drown. The only question asking myself was, 'what was he doing down there?' the sea moving quickly up the beach. Waves crashed against the rocks. I wanted to save him but I knew the dangers. Thunder rumbled like an angry giant approaching. Suddenly, a flash of lightning struck. It made me jump. My heart was pounding in my chest; I looked over to where the boy was sitting. He hadn't moved. The sea charging at him faster than before. The winds were whipping my hair violently around my face. A storm was coming...and fast.
I couldn't just stand there and watch. Without thinking I started to run. Tumbling over the stones that were hiding in the grass below me. I reached the brown sandy beach and started running. The wind was howling as the rain poured down on us. The sand was so wet that it felt like it wanted to swallow me. Waves were getting closer. I looked up. He was staring at me; his eyes were as brown as his hair. There a look of worry and fear in his eyes, but they still sparkled. I wasn't sure if the look of worry was for me was for me or not. My breath was shallow. I closed my eyes. All I could hear was the sound of the waves and the wind. There was another noise, footsteps. They were getting closer to where I lay. I could see nothing but darkness.
"Rach, don't give up! Stay here for me, please! I love you. Don't give up. I can't lose you again."
Then nothing.
I woke up startled. I sat up; my covers were wrapped tightly round me. It was just another nightmare, these were becoming all to regular. As i became aware to my surrounding at first I thought I was back home but I remembered that I was never going home, that I was going to be living here with my aunt, uncle and cousins.
I am staying with Aunt Jill because my mother couldn't cope with me and she didn't want to come back to stay because there were too many memories, i couldn't make out wither they were good or bad memories. I arrived here in Oakland yesterday. My cousins Holly and Emma were there when I arrived, as well as Aunt Jill and Uncle Frank. Out of Emma, Holly and myself I'm the oldest and the tallest then its Emma then Holly. Anyway, it was great being back in America and to stay was even better that I thought it would be.
I got up out of my bed and went to the dresser where my little alarm clock was placed. It was half past six in the morning. I knew that nobody would be up at this time on a Sunday morning, so I dressed and headed out the front door, closing it so it wouldn't make a sound. The morning air was warm and welcoming. The rising sun poured over the horizon. It was magical. The sky was golden, not black like in my dream, birds chirped in the trees above me. I could hear the river trickling along beside me as I made my way down to my little hiding spot that I had when I was a kid growing up here in Oakland.
Time had flown by while I was out. It was half past nine when I got back. As I entered the kitchen, Aunt Jill, Emma and Holly were sitting round the table.
"Good morning, dear. You're up early this morning."
"Yeah, I thought I would have a nice walk before breakfast." I lied. "Where's Uncle Frank?"
