A month went by. Winter had arrived and the funerals were over. Lola's family had agreed to bury her beside Baji. Chelsea had been real quiet drowning herself in paperwork again. Only this time...
A knock was heard at her door. She opened it to be met with Mikey."Hi," she nodded.
"Hi," she let him in.
"No one's home today,"
"Okay," she sat back at the table over looking the papers. Mikey leaned on the counter in front of her.
"What did you come here for?" She asked. He sighed ruffling his hair.
"I never got to apologise for what I said after Shinichiro's funeral," she shrugged.
"It's alright I know you were just stressed," he looked at her.
"Chelsea," she didn't look up trying to drown everything out.
"Chelsea,"
"Chelsea!"
"What!?" She looked at him.
"You can't keep everything in like that, I know I hurt your feelings that day," he said. He walked to her pulling her out of the chair.
"What are y-"
"Come on let's go out for a bit," she frowned.
"I still have work-"
"You'll finish this off later!"
She didn't know where they were headed to but somehow they landed in a forest. Mikey parked his motorcycle and got off. She followed after him as he did."What did you bring me here for? If it's an apology I already said-"
"Chelsea," she looked over at him. Her eyes widened as he got on both knees head hung low.
"That day, when we broke up, it was the worst day of my life, I didn't sleep for months and even after that I was still not at rest, so I want to say it properly," he said. Taking her hand.
"I'm sorry, I don't know what pushed me to take out my anger on you but it'll never happen again, you don't have to forgive me and we don't have to get back together but I just you to know I'll be there for you from now on," she took a moment to take in what he said. Her legs suddenly felt numb and she fell over. Thankfully he caught her as she did resting her in his lap.
"Chel?" She gripped his shoulders shaking. He didn't need an answer wrapping his arms around her hugging her as she teared up. They didn't know how much time passed and neither cared.
"I still love you," she whispered in an almost inaudible voice. His eyes brightened up. She pulled away and for once in forever she gave him a smile. That smile he didn't know he'd missed so badly until he saw it again. His hands moved on there own cupping her face. A single finger running over the corner of her lips. He was about to ask for permission when Chelsea initiated the kiss herself. They'd be lying if they said that hadn't missed each other's touch.
"I missed this," she muttered as they lied on the soft snowy ground.
"Me too,"
Their moment didn't last as they soon had to get off the snow. They settled back at Chelsea's place just cuddling on the couch. They'd agreed to take it slow for now and to be honest they were comfortable with it. Chelsea didn't feel the need to hide her distress anymore and Mikey didn't need to be strong for anyone but himself. That felt real and nice.
