Desiree's POV

Today was the day Preston was leaving. For two months. And I couldn't have been sadder.

The guys were all crowding Preston and hugging him, and I stood watching them, smiling sadly. It's nice to know so many people would miss you if you left. The guys stopped hugging him, and he walked over to me. I tackled him in a hug and held me tight.

"I'm gonna miss you so much, Lava P," I mumbled and warm tears dripped onto his sweater. I felt him smile in my hair.

"I'll miss you more. You mean so much to me, Desiree," he whispered into my ear. I blinked hard, and more tears fell.

"Please don't leave, Preston. I'll miss you too much, and it'll hurt. W-what if you don't come back?" I whimpered like a five-year-old.

"Hey, I'll be back before you know it. I-" The loud speaker cut him off.

"Passengers, flight 391 is going to be boarding soon."

"I-I have to go. Bye, Dez. Promise me that you'll take care of the guys while I'm gone, 'kay?" he asked and kissed my forehead.

"Bye, guys," he called and waved before disappearing in the crowd of people rushing to get a ticket.

Mitch's POV

"I promise," I heard Desiree say softly. I walked behind her and put my hand on her shoulder. She looked at her shoulder and then up at me. Tears began to fall down her face and I embraced her in a hug. She sobbed into my chest.

"Shh... hey, it's okay, it's okay," I whispered and rubbed her back.

"You guys ready to head back?" Jerome asked. She pulled away from me and wiped her face with her sleeve, nodding.

We walked out of the airport to head back home. I put my arm around Desiree and she leaned on my shoulder as we walked. She saw it as a friendly gesture, but I saw it as so much more.

"Thanks for being such a good friend, Mitch," she said sniffling when we reached the car. I smiled back at her sadly. She doesn't know how much she means to me.

I stepped into the backseat and she followed, sitting next to me. She put her head down on my lap and curled into a ball, closing her eyes. I put my arm around her and pulled her close. This is the closest she's been to me since we watched the Hunger Games. I wish I could've stayed like this forever. When I can be close to her.

We reached the house about half an hour later, and Desiree was still laying on my lap. She was sleeping peacefully. I carefully lifted her head off of my lap, trying my best not to wake her up.

I carried her out of the car bridal style and into the house. I layed her on the couch and put a blanket over her. She was softly snoring, and I smiled. I looked around me, and no one was in the room. I softly kissed her lips, but she'll never know. I swear I saw the tips of her mouth curve in her sleep.

Desiree's POV

I woke up with a small smile on my face. Why? I have no idea. I was sobbing hard when Preston left.

I looked up at the clock. Only 2:00? I turned around to eat, then I heard a faint whistle and something small hit the back of my head hard.

"Ow!" I yelled and whipped around to see what hit me. A nerf bullet. I saw a glimpse of movement at the corner of the stairs. I smirked and grabbed a gun that was against a wall. They have these kind of things laying around the house always.

I ran up the stairs swiftly and looked around. Another bullet was shot and it hit the wall behind me, nearly missing my ear. I ran in the direction of the bullet and loaded my Nerf Shotgun. I saw a cheeky Lachlan run out of the room and into another. He ran was heading for a bathroom, and before he could shut the door, I nailed him in the head.
