Cringing slightly at the metallic taste on their tongue they sauntered forwards onto the deserted railroad tracks, clicking their tongues in anticipation. Bloodless hearts metaphorically beating as the hoard marched onward, limbs extended as their gluttonous instincts led them towards the inkling of a scent, that could very well be a promising feast.
'Amen'
Kirari Momobami clicked her tongue in annoyance, she'd never been one for religion yet here she was, listening to a fruitless prayer so that the lord may offer her grace through salvation.
After all the hedonistic sin's she'd committed it wouldn't be farfetched to say the lord himself couldn't save her from the impending doom she had cast upon herself.
Yet here she was listening to her Ex classmate recite father forgive amongst lab coated saints and sinners alike.
The bunker was dimly lit by candlelight, casting lengthy shadows throughout, it was uncomfortably nerving not having the grounding hum of electricity present during such a trying time. Particularly when Kirari could hear faint creaking drawing closer and closer that suspiciously sounded like footsteps-
The carriage door rattled slightly as a bony hand attempted to slide it open in a slow yet forceful manner. A booted foot wriggled its way into the bunker. Successfully kicking the makeshift door to the side. A faint yellow tint in the eyes, unruly hair and sunken facial bones revealed itself to the shadows and practically blended in. Kirari's mind was racing. Not with adrenaline or hedonistic pleasure but fear. Genuine fear. For the first time in her life Kirari Momobami was genuinely 'scared shitless'. It was getting closer to the candlelit vigil of mother Mary that Yuriko the self-ordained nun, meticulously cared for day in day out. The air in the room was thin as the figure stepped into the candlelight-
The thick tense air that wrangled the congregation dissipated. What remained was a young man with pale skin and a greyish blue tint to his cheeks. His hair was thinning and stark white, more so than his lab coat which looked to be ashy in comparison. His eyes were bloodshot and receding further into his baggy eye sockets almost as if they wanted to erase themselves all together. He bowed in apology for disrupting the service while Yuriko glared at him all the while. Muttering something unholy under her breath. Kirari relaxed, recognising him as Kaede, a comrade. Yet the sinking in her stomach didn't dissipate.
