I'll remember how hard it was to walk down the hill to go towards my friends when I first came outside for a mask break. I'll remember all of those track practices I had. meeting new people, becoming friends when different people from different grades. and winning the races I ran during the meets. but most importantly, cheering for the other school when they were competing. even though they're not on our team, we're all family. we treat each other like family because that's who we are. were family.
I'll always remember us arguing over which movie to watch during lunch. I'll remember giving out jolly ranchers to my friends, I'll remember bouncing the tennis ball back and forth with my friend that sat in front of me. I'll remember the gently sweet "hi" my friend always gave me when I was just sitting alone, or standing there nervous, or just standing there waiting. I'll remember the high fives. I'll remember getting upset about something or just not having a good day, and my friend would always just come over and talk to me. I'll remember when my friend would stretch she would look at me and wave to me. I'll remember the times where they would just reach over my shield and put their hand out for a high five.
I'll remember the random conversations I had. I'll remember when the people next to me would talk to me or ask me for a pen. I'll remember pressing the "that was easy" button that's in my 6th-grade teacher's room. and he always said that we could press it after we completed his class, and which we all did. so every morning of this school year we put our stuff down in our classroom and went into his classroom waved at the small group of 6th graders and went behind his desk and pressed it.
I'll remember going to visit my 4th-grade teacher on field day, yesterday. gosh, that made me so happy. she was the best teacher ever. I'll always remember how difficult, but fun, this year was. even though covid changed everything, we still managed to live our lives. and we made it. I'll never forget this. I'll never forget any of it. this was a year to remember.
the end of an amazing chapter.
to my life story.
