I killed my parents.
I know what you're thinking. She killed her parents? Like ohmigosh, that's horrible. But, before you go all crazed villager on me, chasing me with pitchforks and torches, hear me out. I'm not exactly in the mood to give you the whole story, but what you're about to hear isn't all unicorns and rainbows.
FLASHBACK
"Trixie Ada Zelig, where the hell have you been? It's two in the morning, I wake up and go to check up on my child and I see her bed empty, the window wide open. So your mom and I freak out, we wake up your sister, by the way who has a big test today, and we split up driving around town to find you. I come home to see you sitting on the couch watching TV, not a single care in the world. What is the matter with you?" my dad yelled. "I would've been okay if you had asked me and then snuck out!"
"But you were gonna say no either way!" I yelled back.
"At least I would've had an idea of where you were! Lucy has a big test today, and being the good person that she is, she helped look for you! Do you care about anyone but yourself? You're grounded!"
Blah, blah, blah, I thought. Everything is about her, it always is.
"Oh, so when she goes out to party, it's no big deal, but when I do it's the end of the world? You guys never care when I have a test or anything, so why should I care if she has one? She's a spoiled brat and you can't even see it because you're treating her like she's the Stone Tablet!" I vented.
Ugh! He's not even listening to me!
"What?" he paled, "Okay I'm on my way." dad hung up his phone. Then, he grabbed his keys and rushed out the door. As I heard the tires squealing on the pavement, all I could think about was how lucky I was to have them out of the house.
END OF FLASHBACK
Turns out, the reason for the call and sudden disappearance was that my mom and sister got into a car accident. My mom died on impact and my sister went into a coma. Dad was speeding towards the hospital, and when he ran a red light, well, let's just say that he didn't survive as well. My sister, after spending a few days on life support, gave up. Literally. Her body stopped fighting and gave up. Just like that. I didn't even get a call until she was, you know, gone. No one thought I would care.
••••••••••••••••••••••••
I wake up to someone's thumb brushing my cheek. I knew who it was; the tingling I got around him was there. And I could smell him: Axe and coconut. He knew it drove me crazy. I didn't want to wake up just yet.
I hear giggling. Ok, what the hell?
Oh, right. It's my birthday! I open my eyes to see his grey ones. He grins and I smile back.
"Alright lovebirds, cut the lovey-doveyness, the sexual tension is getting to be too much." Amber said. I roll my eyes. Drama-queen much?
I look around the room and I see all my friends; Serena - the hidden talent, Amber - the cheerleader with a secret, Nolan - the artist, Elliot - the flamboyant one with a secret, and my 'love bird' Hunter. Amber ships us so much that she named our kids and our pet already. Not that we've planned that far into the future, but we do know that we love each other; well I love him. We've never said it to each other, but it's not something that needs to be said, you know?
My room looks smaller with all of them in it. Two windows on one side, and a desk in the corner. My dresser goes in front of my bed and there's a night stand right beside me. Of course, my closet is on the other side along with my book case and a small chair, which is where my friends are sitting on now. I painted the room multiple colors; mint green, bright fuchsia, pale yellow, turqouise, tangerine.... I like positive things.
Hunter kissed me on the forehead and threw a glare at Amber, though I knew they were just playing around. Elliot laughed, while Nolan was immersed in his sketchbook. Serena was just staring out the window, gloomy as usual. I don't know what her story was. She was a little overweight and I knew she struggled with self-esteem issues. I also knew that she was a hopeless romantic. I thought she was beautiful inside and out; chocolate skin, short brown curly hair in a bun, light jeans, and an orange sweater, hiding her hourglass figure. By society's definition, she was a girl with curves, however she called them 'lumps'. To put it bluntly, she liked white guys and was constantly ridiculed by her family for it. Serena put her self down and compared herself to other girls only making her feel worse.
That was only skimming the surface of our rag tag group. I loved them all, each and every one of them. They were there for me, and I was there for them. But the same thought was always at the back of my head; You weren't there for your family.
Hunter turned back to look at me. Cosmos he was so beautiful.
"You ready to go, Kit Kat?"
I'll explain the 'cosmos' thing later.
I sat up on my many throw pillows and sighed. It's 9:30 on a Saturday morning. Hunter raised his eyebrows, as if he knew what I was thinking. I sighed again.
"Fine, let me get dressed first." I looked at Serena and Amber and they understood. There was no way I was getting dressed without them. After all, they were the ones who knew where we were going.
As Hunter and Nolan were leaving, Elliot got up from the couch and asked
"Can I stay and help you ladies?" he wiggled his eyebrows suggestively. Hunter slapped him upside the head.
•••••••••••••••••
I collapsed on the bed and sighed. Clothes were strewn across the floor and so were my friends. We were exhausted and the guys had warned that we needed to be ready in 20 minutes. I sat up and gasped. I totally forgot!
I carefully made my way across the piles of things towards the closet and reached all the way up top and felt around. When I pulled my hand back down, the girls were crowded around me and gasped collectively as they saw what I dug up. I grinned and rubbed my hands together.
"It's showtime!"
As I walked down the stairs Nolan and Elliot turned around. They were whistling by the time I reached the couch where they were sitting with Amber and Serena by my side. I tapped Hunter's shoulder and he turned around.
"Hot damn." he said.
I was wearing a fitted maroon skirt paired with a black cropped tank. Just cause I get cold often, I threw on a sweater with colorful geometric designs. On my feet, were black lace booties, and I also wore thigh high stockings. I left my hair as is in a braid down my back the way Hunter liked it. No makeup, just my signature lipstick and some mascara that I'm pretty sure uses voodoo because my lashes are not this long.
Nolan, who usually talked only to Serena, eyed my legs up and down.
"Why do you hide those things?" he exclaimed, and Amber flicked his shoulder.
Hunter slid his hand around my waist and I grinned.
"Time to party bitches!"
Everyone looked around when they realized it wasn't me who said that, but Serena - who was already by the door, and shrugged.
"What?"
