Slowly the little chameleon sneaked through the forest and looked carefully. Did the soldiers finally stop following her? Out of breath, Neeko let herself fall against a tree and closed her eyes. Why did they even follow her? She didn't do anything bad!
Thinking to herself she mumbled "Don't they like me?" and sighed. She only went to Targon to get something to eat and to look at all the interesting people with their beautiful, glittering skins, but as soon as she entered the town everyone told her to leave. People screamed at her or called her "Monster!". Neeko tried to prove that she was a peaceful chameleon and as harmless as a tomato, but noone believed her and the soldiers started haunting her.
"Life isn't fair", she mumbled and opened her eyes after a while. A shock ran through her veines. A little girl flew right in front of her face. She smiled while her orange her floated around her and her eyes were wide open.
"It's been a while!" She laughed at the chameleon and came closer. Neeko's blood froze in her veins and she started trembling. "Zoe...", she whispered and her mood changed immediately. Neeko was tired, too tired to fight against her enemy from back then. Zoe giggled, then came down to the floor and winked. "Missed me?" Neeko nearly cried, knowing that she wouldn't survive this night without a miracle.
"Stop playing Zoe. Just end it like a strong potato." Zoe looked at her surprisedly. "I think you missunterstood something. Idiot! I don't want to kill you!" She took a seat next to me, leaned against the tree and sighed. "Just didn't want to be alone and saw you around." Confusedly Neeko looked at her. Was that kid serious?
"That enemy-stuff was years ago. Let's just forget about it, alright?" She grinned and Neeko nodded quietly. She didn't want to die that night, she wasn't ready to leave this world yet. She wanted to become a strong tomato and friends with everyone, and if that meant to befriend with Zoe she would do it.
"Soooooooo how have you been?", Zoe started and looked at Neeko curiously. The chameleon looked different than before, less motivated, less powerful. What had happened to her? "I've been fine", Neeko responded and looked at the floor. Zoe knew she was lying but didn't want to harass her. But why not tho...?
"You're lying aren't you", she uttered and grinned consciously. Neeko's eyes wided and she flinched. "How do you-?", she began, but Zoe interrupted her. "It's obvious. You look tired and overwhelmed. Wanna talk about it?" Neeko sighed, closed her eyes and shook her head.
"Well if you don't wanna talk I will", Zoe said grinning and began to narrate about her past few years. "I met many nice people! It was great. And after our fight I got closer to some of the other Starguardians. We made things up, you know? Hmmmm what else... Ah, I traveled a lot and realized some stuff. Self-discovery and so on."
Neeko listened carefully. Why would Zoe even tell her all that? They had hard fights in the past. How could the other Starguardians befriend with this kid after all that had happened??
"Let me guess, you still think I want to stab you in the back." Zoe sighed and leaned against Neeko, who was too exhausted and scared to fight back. "That's relatable, but I changed. At least a little. Let me prove it to you!" Slowly she stood up and tapped Neeko, so she would open her eyes. "You like butterlies right?" Neeko nodded silently. "Look at this then!"
Zoe opened a portal, disappeared for a second and appeared again with three butterflies that shimmered golden. "These are my friends from my home town." Neekos eyes wided and she came closer to see them more clearly. She smiled and held her hand up so the butterflies could sit on it.
"So beautiful", Neeko whispered and smiled brightly at the butterflies, then at Zoe. Zoe nodded and looked at Neeko interestedly. The little chameleon talked to the butterflies quietly and Zoe had to concentrate a lot to understand her.
"It's gonna be okay little ones. Neeko is here. We can do it together. Life is hard, but we all will be strong tomatoes. Noone can drag us down." Zoe looked at her surprisedly and saw that she hugged herself quietly. "I think it's time for them to go back home", Zoe mumbled, created a portal and transfered the butterflies back home.
Neeko kept sitting there quietly, her arms close around herself. Zoe took a seat next to her and looked at her carefully. "Uhm... hey eh... I just want you to know that I'm here, okay? I know we aren't friends, but... I don't know, I still want you to know that you are not alone and that you can always talk to me, okay?" Neeko looked up at her, smiled shortly and hugged her randomly. Her eyes were filled with tears. "Thank you", she whispered in Zoe's ear. "Thank you so much. I'm so sorry." Zoe returned the hug and patted her back. "It's okay. All good, don't worry."
