Chapter 2

After showering I got dressed and left a note for my mom incase she woke up. I went down stairs to the lobby and sat down on the couch and watched the fire in the fireplace, I had nothing  better to do, the flames danced about, each flame almost having they're own rythm.

I glanced at my cell phone it was 5 am. I guess I could wake my mom up so we could leave in about a hour. When I got back to the room my mom was still sleeping, I woke her up and we got ready to leave. We loaded the truck and I went to give the keys back.

My mom drove for a while not saying a word to me making me guess I didn't pass the exit or anything. I stared out the window for a while, this was my life, always running.

"Mom?" I asked getting tired of the silence

"Yes Hailey" she responded automatically not taking her eyes of the road

"Where are we going?" I questoned tired of guessing

"Iowa" she stared tighitn her grip on the steering wheel and shifting uncofterably in her seat

"Iowa?" I asked, that one was new I thought my mom hated states like Iowa

"Hailey I thought I told you that we had to do this and there will be no complaing!" she almost shouted at me

"I know I was just wondering why, I'm sorry." I stated back almost automatically

But I wasn't sorry, I didn't want to run all the time. I zoned out for the next three hours. Not saying a word to my mom. I looke out my window and in big, welcoming letters was a sign that said "Welcome to Iowa" My mom drove for another 30 minutes or so and exited. We drove threw a town or two, then we came up on a little town. The sign said "Roseville population 1,326."

Well make that 1,328 because my mom and I were moving in.

"Here we are" she said pulling into a drive way in front of a house.

It looked about 40 years old, dark grey with two stories, it looked alright to me.

"Come on let's get unpacked" my mom said hopping out of the car

"You have the keys already?" I asked confused

"Bought the house when we were in Ohio, just in case" she stated grabbing her purse out of the back

"Oh," I said quietly

I grabbed one of my three boxes and my duffel bag and wlked with my mom up to the door. She pulled out the keys and unlocked it.

"You can have any room you want, there's three." she said dropping her purse on the floor

"Thanks" I faked a smile even though I really didn't care

There was furnature all ready in the living room like every house we moved into.

"Oh," my mom said like she just rembered something "Just to let you know this house was built on top of an old cemetery."

"Ooo, spooky." I said sarcastically and walked upstairs

I went to the end of the hallway, there was a meduim room on the left with brown walls and a white bed with a night stand and a lamp. It looked good enough for me. I got the rest of my boxes and my other suitcase and I set it all in my room. My mom took the room across from me. I told her I was going to find a cell phone place and switch my number.

I took the pickup truck into town to look around, there was a library, a little cafe, and a tiny strip mall. I switched my number in the strip mall and went to the cafe for coffee.

I slowly drove home looking at the town closly, I was going to be living in it from now on. When I pulled into the driveway I saw someone shuffling around in the attic window, I figured my mom was just putting boxes up there she didn't need right now.

I walked into the house and saw my mom at the table.

"Hey mom, here's my new number" I said handing her a piece of paper

"Thanks" she said not taking her eyes off the book she was reading

"Anything cool in the attic?"  I asked her

"Attic, haven't been up they're yet." she said still reading her book

"But I saw someone up there. What do you mean you haven't been up there yet?"

Sooo.. sorry to leave it at a cliff hanger. What do you think? Comment or Vote, or do both. :) thanks
