A/N: hey guys. i originally only posted this story on ao3 but decided to put it here too. anyways, this is mainly gonna be in armin's pov. also, if there are any typos or anything, make sure to comment and tell me! enjoy.

“You are the smell before rain, you are the blood in my veins.”

Yeah, pretty much.

Armin Arlert has had it bad for Eren Jaeger for a long time.

On the first day of freshman year, the brunet waltzed into third period late. The first thing Armin noticed about him was his eyes. They were the brightest green one could imagine, with little flecks and traces of beautiful blue. He was mesmerized the second he saw them.

The next thing he saw was his build. Lanky but muscular a the same time, somehow mixing perfectly. He was wearing a tight baseball tee that hugged his biceps so well that the blond could see every curve of the other boy’s muscles, and damn were they nice.

Right as he was about to speak, the teacher, Mr. Pixis, began to talk.

“Would you mind telling us why you are late?” the man asked.

The beautiful boy finally opened his mouth. “I got lost on the way here. Sorry.” Something about the smirk on the brunet’s face made his apology seem insincere.

“Mhm. And your name is…?” Pixis questioned.

“Eren Jaeger. Don’t wear it out.”

After that comment, everyone in the class gasped. They had heard from older kids that Mr. Pixis was a hardass and was ruthless. Whether that was true or not, we were going to find out.

“And with that remark, Eren Jaeger, you just earned yourself a detention.” Multiple “oooohs” were heard around the class, to which the teacher sent a stern look that quickly shut them up.

Eren sighed and walked to the back of the class to take his seat. On his way there, he passed Armin. He could pick up the faint scent of cologne and something slightly minty. It was an odd combination, but it fit him. Ever since that class, Armin has been completely and utterly smitten.

Armin smiled fondly at the memory of that day as he walked to school. he was lucky enough to have one class with him each year since then, but this year he didn’t. It’s the second day of his senior year and he was taking all AP classes except for one, which was gym, which he decided to put off as long as possible.

He go to Rose High School in just under ten minutes. Waiting for him outside were Marco Bodt, Krista Lenz, and Petra Ral.

Marco waved. “Hey Armin!” Marco has always been his closest friend. The two had bonded since the day they met in sophomore year. They both had similar ideas about life and intelligence levels.

“Hi guys, good morning,” the blond replies.

“Good morning, Armin!” Petra was a real sweetheart. She has strawberry blonde hair and the kindest eyes he has ever seen. They have always understood each other. The only ting he couldn't understand about Petra was why she was dating Auruo Bossard, one of the biggest assholes that the school had. Auruo played on the football team and on the baseball team with Eren. They always seemed to butt heads from what he had heard.

“Hi Armin,” Krista said with a smile. Krista is a polite petite blonde girl. She is extremely smart and always was good at everything she did. She has a girlfriend named Ymir. Ymir is a tall brunette with a snarky attitude, but always softened up when she’s around Krista. They’re quite the cute couple.

“Ready to go inside?” Marco asked.

There was a round of “yes’s” and they went into the school.

All of Armin’s classes flew by. Soon it was lunchtime. Lunch was the only time Armin was able to see the bright-eyed brunet, so he looked forward to it every day.

Eren and the rest of the baseball team always sat in the back corner of the cafeteria. Armin and his friends a few tables over. Marco and Krista always let him sit facing Eren; they knew just how much he looked forward to seeing him every day in the lunchroom.

That day Eren was wearing a faded old band shirt and light wash jeans. He looked amazing in Armin’s opinion. Then again, in his opinion, Eren looked good in everything.

He felt someone lightly poke his side, snapping him out of his daze. “Armin? Earth to Amin? Are you daydreaming about Eren again?” Petra teased.

He blushed. “No,” he quickly exclaimed.

Petra gave him a knowing look.

“Fine, I was. Is it a crime for me to look at him?” The blond asked, embarrassed.

“Of course not, we all know how much you like him. We just didn't want him to notice you staring at him like that.” Marco reassured.

“O-oh… Thanks, guys.”

“No problem, Ar,” Petra said softly.

They quietly spoke for a few more minutes, and then Armin had to leave for his next class. He looked at Eren one more time and left the cafeteria.
