"Ragnor's house is just across these fields" Magnus mentioned once we crossed the portal he created. We were in the countryside of London.
"Let's make this quick." Jace said marching rapidly." We'll talk to Ragnor and Portal him back to the Institute before anyone knows we're gone."
"So...brother and sister, huh?" I looked at Magnus in disbelief.
"I don't wanna talk about it." Jace spoke.
"Wait, so we're just gonna be work buddies now? All about the mission, and totally ignore the huge bomb that just dropped on us."
"Yeah, sounds like a plan. What do you want me to say, Clary? That I was attracted to my sister?"
"No..." Clary started.
"Point of fact, brother and sisters are often attracted to each other. I once knew this one couple in ancient Egypt..:"
"Magnus not helping." Clary interrupted him and I shook my head.
"Maybe this will all make sense when we wake up Jocelyn. Since she is Jace's mother as well, perhaps..." Magnus tried to help.
"Don't say that again. Maryse is my mother. At best, Jocelyn is the woman who abandoned me."
"Hey that is not true." Clary defended." My mother would never abandon her son. She thought you were dead."
"Or maybe she just didn't want me."
"You don't know her, Jace."
"That's right Clary, I don't. Do you?" He leaned.
"I'm sorry he asked! But I came with you to escape my relationship drama, not get a front row seat to yours." I told them.
Jace looked around." What was that?"
"Nice try, Jace. You're not getting out of this conversation that easily." Clary said.
"Look out." Magnus warned as a green fire encircled us and Jace pushed Clary back, while Magnus and I protected our face.
"Ragnor put up wards to protect his lair." Magnus informed us.
"Why is the fire green?" Clary asked.
"It's a wall of fire that only the pure of heart and intention can pass through. Are you ready?" We looked at each other I took Clary's hand and she squeezed it. We started walking through the green fire. Once on the other side I looked at my side and Clary was still there, but the others weren't and the fire had disappeared.
"Jace?" She called.
"Magnus?" I yelled.
"Where are you?" She ran a few meters and looked around. We both spotted a house and ran towards it.
"Ragnor Fell." She said and I nodded.
The door was open.
"Ragnor, Ragnor." We called again but there was no response. We walked inside and I prepared a ball of energy while she took out her blade. We walked into the corridor slowly.
"Hello."
"Is anybody home? We need your help."
I had given up calling out letting Clary do it. Ragnor must be out or hiding. We stood before a painting of Ragnor.
"Ragnor, I know your here."
"Show yourself please." I pleaded.
"We just need to find our friends."
A clinking sound was heard and we looked at the direction of the sound. While I still looked around Clary approached the painting.
"Nice try, Ragnor." She touched the painting and pulled out Ragnor from it, he fell on the floor.
