Pain. That's all she could feel. Then light. Red, blue, darkness, white. Then nothing. She had dreams, game night with Lucifer and Trixie. Mother daughter dates. Regular dates. The dreams were always followed by nightmares.

The warehouse, she remembered. A sting gone wrong, stray bullets and one caught her in the chest. Pain again. Then nothing. This cycle continued. She hated it, and though she wanted to come to, wanted to wake, she couldn't.

Trixie was at school, paying attention was rough and her life got infinitely harder. She lost her dad, now the threat of losing her mom loomed in the air. The bell rang and the cacophony of children moving flowed through the air.

Her days were also the same. Wake up, breakfast, school, hospital, home, bed. The same thing every day. She was grateful though, Lucifer had been with her through it all. She knew he was hurting just as much as she was, but despite that he refused to show it.

He picked her up in front of the school and offered a small smile. Trixie smiled back, though both knew it was fake. Silence fell on the car as the drove through the city. The wind felt nice and calming. Through these past few months, this car ride had become Trixie's favorite.

They parked and walked inside. The receptionist greeted them. They came so often, everyone knew who they were and why they were there.

"Afternoon Debbie." Lucifer said.

Then they moved to the elevator. Trixie grabbed Lucifer's arm and hugged it. The initial arrival was always nerve racking. The fear that something would change or that she'd be lost for good. But upon entering the room, everything was the same.

The curtains open with sunlight filtering through the window. Fresh flowers replaced every other Sunday by Linda. Drawings Trixie had made hung around the room. But despite the warmth added, it still felt sad. Lucifer rubbed Trixie's back then started talking.

"I'm going to go get food. What do you want?"
"A sandwich. Tur-"
"Turkey not ham, I know."

Trixie looked back and smiled. She took a seat next to her mom and pulled out a book. One hand flipped through the pages, the other held onto her mom's hand.

Lucifer came back a few minutes later with two sandwiches. After eating, Trixie got up to use the restroom.

Nothing. Then white, then a bright light. Chloe shifted. Squinting her eyes though they were closed. It took her a second, but slowly she opened them and blinked to the brightness that surrounded her. After a few seconds she turned her head and saw Lucifer looking out the window eating his sandwich.

"Lucifer?" It came out raspy.

Lucifer froze. It had been three months since he'd heard that voice, and it startled him. He turned slowly, then blinked, afraid it was a dream. When she didn't disappear or seem asleep again, he smiled and ran to her side. He set the sandwhich down and hugged her. She grunted, but laughed.

She tapped on him and he leaned off of her. Then memories came flooding back and she tried to sit up, but failed. Lucifer helped her before she started.

"Where's Trixie? Is she okay? How long have I been out?"
"Hey, hey. Slow down. Trixie's okay, she's in the bathroom. It's been... well it's been three months." Chloe's eyes flashed with fear, "Don't panick. She's been staying with me."
"You, you've been watching Trixie for the past three months."
"Mom!"

Lucifer and Chloe turned to look at the girl in the door. Trixie was smiling and tears were welling in her eyes. Chloe smiled, and Trixie ran over and hugged her aggressively.

"Mommy!"
"Hi baby."
"You're okay."
"Yeah, I am."

Trixie pull back smiled. Chloe looked back at Lucifer.

"You watched her for the past three months."
"She's really not hard to take care of. And... I think we both needed someone with you gone. So she stayed with me."

Trixie hugged Lucifer tightly.

"Thank you, Lucifer. I never said it, but I should have."

Two days later Chloe was released. After three months and two days she finally got to go home. Lucifer moved in, he missed Trixie and it also made him feel better. They carried on, as normal as they could.
