How I Met An Angel

Early Greetings

"Aaaaahhhhh!!!" I woke up with a scream while catching my breath from a bad dream.

"That nightmare again" I whispered to my self as I look around the dark walls of my room. Only the beam of light from the moon gave a little glow to my dull, lifeless condo unit here at the 14th floor of our building.

I wiped my hand in my forehead when I noticed the sweat dripping from it. I was still recovering from my sadden wake when I noticed the time in my digital clock right at the top of the table by my bed.

"Happy birthday to me" I said while forcing myself to smile. It's 1:00 in the morning and it's the 14th of February, Valentines day, and also the special day of my life.

But it feels like just another normal day for me.

I went back to bed trying to sleep again and forget the dream I just had. It's just part of the past. The past that I need to move on and forget.

I close my eyes and doze off to cool my thoughts racing in my head.

"Happy b-day Lee!!" My co-workers said in chorus as I enter the hospital's cafeteria. They move out living a space in the center. Standing their was a tall, handsome guy holding a bouquet of flower in his right hand and a box of chocolates on his left

"Happy b-day and Valentines day to you my lady" he said while bowing down. "Thanks guys you dont need to bother" I said while smiling sweetly at them.

"Don't thank us, thank him" said Sheena ,my co-worker, gesturing towards the man standing at the center.

"Gabriel" I said while approaching his direction.

He's spreading his arms ready to hug me. You can say that he has a fit body from how how he stands and how he wears simple denims and just a plane blue v-neck shirt.

"Ok guys!! Let's leave the love birds alone" Sheena shouted so every one in the cafeteria vacated and went out.

It's 4:00 in the morning. The cafeteria is usually empty at this time. Just like now, me and Gab are the only ones occupying the room and the workers in charge.

"Hey. How's my Lean?" Gab said while motioning to me to sit beside him in one of the tabels here.
"I'm fine. Thanks for the surprise by the way" I said as I smile sweetly at him.

"It's nothing. Besides, that's another point for me to win your heart." He winked at me and grinned.
"You wish!" I said while rolling my eyes upwards.

"Hey, If I need to surprise you everyday or do the imposible things like catching falling stars, or even swim across the Bermuda Triangle, I will do all of that just to make you mine" he said looking sincerely into my eyes. His eyes were brown and shimmering from gladness. I can see that.

"Gab, you know that I can't return the love you have for me. I just look at you as my best friend, my brother" I said with a sad tone. I looked away and continued eating my food that was given by him a while ago.

Gabriel is my bestfriend since we were 14, and also my suitor for almost four months now. I love him not in a romantic way. He knows that already, but he keeps on courting me.

"I know, but always remember that I'm always here"

He said while holding my hands. From glee, his eyes turned to gloom.

"Emergency!" We heard shouting from the halls. I immediately stood up when I heard the sirens from the ambulances outside. "Go, they need you there" He said with a forced smile while looking directly to my eyes.

"Thanks for everything Gab" I said as I run to the door.

"Wait!" I stopped and faced him. He halted me and ran towards my position. He handed me a box the size of my palm.

"Happy b-day" he said and softly and kissed me on my temple
"Thanks!" I hugged him and went out the cafeteria doors and went strait to the E.R.

Gab's POV

It hurts..

I watch her ran through the hallways while I'm smiling bitterly on thin air.

I can't blame her if she can't return my feelings for her. We've been close for a long time, but those times, we were just teens and we don't really know about love or anything related to it. Love is just a game. That's what it is.

Until one day, I just felt the butterflies in my stomach, the slow motion of my views, and the loud pounding of my chest every time I see her and go close to her. Even her sweet smile makes my whole world stop.

The simple gestures she makes, the tiny laugh escaping her perfectly curved lips, and even the lovely gaze of her brown eyes makes my feet tremble.

I can feel her sruggles, pain, anger, sadness and even the happy moments we share are all in my mind and heart.

Then one day, we were in college, I realized that I already fell for her..

I fell inlove with her.
I fell in love with my best friend.

That's when I knew what is LOVE.

I was about to go back inside, when I noticed someone staring at me. A guy, about my age, was standing behind the walls, peeking.

He went out of his position and revealed himself. He looked at me with anger while clenching his fist, then he looked back to the direction where Lean went and followed her path.

I watch him went away and fade off my gaze.

Who is he?
