It wasn't long, maybe a split second, but I could have sworn that Akito was...
Tohru Honda woke from her dream with a start, before groggily rubbing the sleep from her chocolate colored eyes and dismissing the fleeting thought of a dream long over. While the thoughts of the dream and the dream itself were faded and quickly forgotten, Tohru couldn't shake the feeling it left her with. It was a bitter-sweet feeling and the harder she thought about it, the more deeply this feeling rooted itself in her heart.
The soft-spoken girl thought about the matter for a moment as she scanned her room from her spot on the bed, until her eyes finally fell to the blinking numbers on the alarm clock. "Eight... o'clock..?" She pondered for a moment before the numbers registered in her mind. "Oh, no! I'm gonna be late!" Tohru squealed, throwing the covers off of her legs and running to the closet, scrambling to grab her uniform and throw it on.
"Why didn't anyone wake me?" She asked herself as she grabbed her bag and sped down the stairs. In her rush, being the klutz that she was, of course, Tohru ran into something solid just before hearing a small poof. An orange cloud blocked her vision, but the young girl recognized the irritated 'Oof,' coming from the carrot top boy she thought oh-so fondly of. "K-Kyo! Oh, I'm so sorry!" The brunette bowed and apologized profusely to the said boy-turned-cat.
Kyo Sohma let out a discontented sigh, ears flattened, before looking up to the girl he had such deep feelings for. "It's alright, but Tohru, why are you in such a hurry to get out the door this morning? You're in your school uniform, too." Tohru looked at the cursed boy in utter shock, did he not know what day it was? Just as the idea came up, Kyo continued, "You do realize it's Saturday, right?"
"..." Tohru stood dumbfounded, dropping her bag to the floor before sitting down on the bottom step with a plop and a sigh of relief, "Thank goodness."
Poof, another cloud appeared and Kyo emerged slowly after, red boxers pulled up around his waist. Apparently, since he had thought everyone to be asleep, he hadn't gotten fully dressed yet anyway. The boy sat beside Tohru and gently wrapped a large hand around the curve of her petite shoulder, "Hey," the girl looked over at him with a sweet, but tired smile. As always, Kyo was at a loss for words, all lectures and negative thoughts disappearing from his mind.
"Yes, Kyo?" The melody of Tohru's voice left Kyo nervous, unable to voice his concern for the girl. The boy looked away from her, reluctantly loosing his grip on the girl's shoulder in favor of resting said hand on his knee instead.
"I-It's nothing, never mind." Kyo said, cursing himself for stuttering as he stood up and turned to walk up the stairs, "You should go back to bed. You look terrible." Instantly, the hot-headed cat regretted what he had said, but there was no taking it back now.
"R-Really? You think so?" Tohru asked for confirmation with an innocent yet somehow insecure look in her eyes, but before Kyo could say anything, "I suppose you're right. I didn't sleep very well last night." The girl smiled sheepishly, picking herself up off of the stairs and brushing off her pointlessly worn, uniform skirt. She smiled at Kyo, tenderly, with her eyes closed, "Wake me up again when you're hungry, okay?"
Kyo looked back down at Tohru from the top of the stairs, watching as she slowly ascended them herself. "Sure, whatever." He said as he continued to walk down the hall and to his room, the brunette trailing not to far behind to enter her own room. They each spared a glance at each other from down the hall, both wanting to say something, but coming up short. "...Later."
"Y-Yeah!" Tohru replied, "Later..." With that, she entered her room, closing the door behind her. Kyo just stood there, watching the closed door with curious suspicion. Something's not right...
