Family

Whenever the twins leave, Sasuke is stuck with having nothing to do other than rereading the scrolls and planning. Without admitting it, he has been waiting for the twins to come back home. Whenever they are not there his demons overwhelm him with negative thoughts. To distract himself, Sasuke would train and work on the scrolls. 

After 6 p.m. had passed and the twins were not back yet he decided to take a bath. As soon as he dips into the bath he hears the twins and a voice he didn't expect to hear. He lay his head back and closes his eyes to relax but an image came to his mind. Hinata to his left and the twins in front of them. Sasuke quickly sits up as if it was a nightmare... oddly a sweet and satisfying nightmare. 

 After a while, he decided to get up and see what they are doing. The loud laughs from the kitchen caught his attention. He quickly dries his hair and heads out to his room. As he walks to the kitchen his stomach growl due to the smells of the food. Sasuke stops by the door and silently watches the three of them. He would smile whenever they joke around. 

"Her smile is beautiful." Sasuke thinks to himself. He couldn't help but feel butterflies in his stomach whenever he sees the way Hinata looks at the twins. It was full of love, gentleness, and warmth. Sasuke couldn't help but smile as he watches Hinata prepare dinner with utmost perfection like Mikoto. 

His years as a rogue did not make him forget his mother. He yearns for the days when he can see her again. Sasuke didn't want to continue living. He provoked Naruto in the hope that Naruto would kill him. He respects Naruto out of everyone for not giving up on him, which was why he wanted Naruto to be the one that kills him. Sasuke just wanted to rest and meet his family once again. After killing Itachi, he would doze off in the dappled sunlight and wonder if he could join the dead and return to dust. His only strength was revenge and when the fire for revenge burned out he yearns to die again. 

If Naruto knew that was the reason, he would have refused to fight with Sasuke. In the last battle, as they clash for the last time he had a glimpse of hope of meeting his family as he sees the light. Sadly, it was a false light as he did not cross to join the dead. He internally cursed Naruto for purposely not killing him. 

"Should I die or continue to live? Which one is correct and which one is wrong? " 

On the verge of crying Sasuke hears Hinata's announcement. "Tadaa! A simple and balanced meal before going to sleep." Once again he sees a beautiful picture painted in front of him. A painting of a beautiful family. His own beautiful family. 

After they finish settling up the table Hinata asked the twins. "Umm, is Uchiha-san not home? Shouldn't you two tell him to eat?" 

Although they are not close, Sasuke gets irritated that she continues to call him Uchiha. "No need to." Hinata jumped as she hears his voice behind her. Meanwhile, the twins quickly take the left side of the table so that Hinata will have to sit next to Sasuke. 

"Konnichiwa Uchiha-san. Sorry to bother you." 

"Don't worry about it. I am sure it is not your fault." Sasuke sits down and glares at the twins since they also didn't let him know ahead of time. Itachi mouthed 'You're welcome' and chuckle with Hinami. "Take a seat."

Hinami point to the cherry tomatoes. "Tou-san, Okaa-san bought you some cherry tomatoes as a gift. Hurry let's eat I am hungry." 

"Itadaikimasu!" Sasuke watches as the three of them begin to grab some food. He inspects it and was surprised that she was able to make something. They haven't shopped for food since the twins always go out and come back with leftovers. The food was to his taste. He loves how warm the chicken is but it is also crunchy. 

Hinata, on the other hand, enjoys watching the twins indulging in the food with joy. She grabs some cherry tomatoes and gives them to Itachi. She didn't realize that she kept giving the cherry tomatoes to Itachi whenever Sasuke is about to grab some. Sasuke couldn't believe that she forgot he is in her presence. He quickly picks the last cherry tomato and as he grabs it Hinata's chopstick grabs his. Hinata breaks out of her bubble and realizes what she has done. 

"Is this really a gift for me?" As soon as she realizes what happened Hinata brings her hands to cover her face out of embarrassment. 

"I'm so sorry." She cries out. "I-I d-didn't m-m-mean to-." As much as Sasuke likes cherry tomatoes he also enjoys Hinata's reaction. He smirks at how she tries so hard to conceal her embarrassment. "I will go wash some more." 

He continues to watch her back as she rinses the cherry tomatoes. He couldn't help but smile. Sasuke clears his throat as he notices the twins grinning at him. As they watch Hinata washes more tomatoes Itachi whisper to Sasuke. "Jealous?" 

Sasuke smirks and raises an eyebrow. "No way. Enjoy all the time you can with her. You have no choice but to allow me to spend time with her. Meaning just me and her... alone." 

The three of them act normal when Hinata returns with a bowl of cherry tomatoes. As the twins continue to eat Hinata notices that Sasuke had stopped grabbing more food. However, he is intensively looking at the tomatoes. She looks up to the twins and they eyeball between the tomatoes and Sasuke. They were trying to hint that she should grab some cherry tomatoes and place them in Sasuke's bowl. 

Hinata out of guilt felt that Sasuke probably didn't want to feel humiliated like before. She gathered as much courage as she can and grab a cherry tomato and placed it in Sasuke's bowl. "I am so sorry about earlier." 

Little did Hinata knows, her small actions spark a small fire in Sasuke's heart. He looks at her and ensures her that he was not offended by her actions.
