"We're leaving to America I think. My father said he's getting a new job and it's going to help many wizards and witches!" 5 year old Y/n told her best friend Draco. They had been childhood best friends since they were born. Both their parents worked in the Ministry and were good friends, so naturally their children became friends as well. "That's really far Y/n, how will you be able to visit me?" Young Draco sighed. "That's the thing Draco I don't think we're coming back. My mother has packed everything!" Draco frowned, he didn't want to lose his best friend. "I want you to have this." Y/n tells him. She reached in her small pocket and hands him a silver necklace with a small circle. In that circle was Y/n's birthday, a present her parents gave her when she was young. "I can't take that! Your parents gifted you that!" Draco tried to give her the necklace back, but Y/n was quite stubborn. "No Draco it's for you! I want you to have it, so you never forget about me!" Draco's eyes widened, "How can you think I'd forget about you? You're my best friend Y/n."

Y/n woke up in her new home. Her family had moved back to the United Kingdom after years of living in New York. She was transferring to Hogwarts in her 3rd year.

She didn't want to leave New York, she made everything there and now she had to start over. She also didn't want people to make fun of her because she didn't have the same accent she had when was five. In general she wasn't the same Y/n she was once before.

"Okay honey, we will send you letters when we can, I have to drop you off here okay?" She told 13 year old Y/n and she nodded. "I know mom, love you." Her mother kissed her cheek as she ran through the stone wall in between 9 and 10.

Seconds later she was in a whole new world in front of a large train. People were already looking at her, not recognizing her.

She waiting behind huge doors with other students, who seemed to be first years. "First years I will call your name, so the sorting hat can sort you into your new house. There is Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, Slytherin, and Ravenclaw. Y/n L/n, you will go last since you are a third year transfer." Y/n nodded as the doors opened, showing a huge magically room. There was four long tables filled with students, who stared at the new students.

It seemed like forever, each name was being called, while Y/n waited until it was finally her turn.

"Y/n L/n!" Professor McGonagall announced and the room went quiet. Draco looked up for the first time in the sorting ceremony hearing her name. It sounded so familiar, yet he couldn't figure out why.

"Ah very intriguing." The hat began. "You have skills that could be useful in all houses. But you will prosper in...Slytherin!" It announced making the last table clap for her. She smiled as she jumped from the stool going to the table with people wearing black and green robes.

She sat by a girl with short black hair, "I'm Pansy! That's Blaise, Crabbe, Goyle," She introduced her friends as they gave her a small nod. "And that's Draco." She pointed at the blonde haired boy making Y/n's eyebrows furrow. Draco looked so familiar to someone Y/n knew, but perhaps it was just a coincidence.

Draco didn't look up until Y/n wasn't looking. He looked at her as she admired the room and food around her. He tried to figure out where he knew her from, but nothing came to his mind.

They walked towards the common room. Pansy and Y/n walked together in front of the group, while the boys stayed behind them. "So where are you from Y/n? Are you from America? Your accent gives it away." Pansy smiled and Y/n nodded. "Yeah I am, I'm from New York. I moved there when I was younger." She told her, but Pansy wasn't the only one listening. Draco had been eavesdropping their conversation trying to know more about Y/n.
