There once was an evil released that was so horrid the whole world shook with it. However, it was banished and it receded to a spot in the abyss. Being there, it still pulses evil and cruelty to this very day. I studied that evil, and I discovered what I feared.
I was a college student in West Star City, a very urban city, and the biggest of the Star Cities. I was looking forward to some relaxing studying, publishing my work every Sunday. And I did so for many days, until one day, I found that one of my discoveries required me to travel to the Arctic Ocean. What I found out was that evil did not merely come from the human mind. It originated from a concentrated spot, which created a magnetic field. This magnetic field would occasionally be strong enough to rearrange neurons within the brain, which caused a loss of morality.
I immediately told the dean of the college, WSC College, about this, and asked that I set out on an expedition to the magnetic North Pole to further study this phenomenon. He gladly accepted this expedition, and he told a few of the explorers training in the college to go with me on this expedition. With a notebook in hand and a pen behind my ear, I stepped up to the danger.
After a certain amount of time, the crew became more arguable. In the northern reaches of Alaska, I found refuge from the exhausting adventures with the friendly local townspeople. However, after I slept, as soon as I woke up, I found myself being sacrificed over a fire to what appeared to be a statue of what looked like a deformed, twisted heart. I broke free from my captors and combat almost instantly ensued. Acute pain quickly followed, and a battered and bruised crew just managed to escape the deadly townspeople.
After a period of time, we found that we were a few ice floes away from the North Pole. I did not see anything of incredible magnitude yet, so we kept on our ice floe. As the ice floe started gradually moving towards the magnetic North Pole, we fancied something large, cone-shaped, and spewing out hot lava and shining obsidian. It also had strange large markings that could not be made out yet. There it was. Our goal was within a few minutes' reach. The evil I had been searching for was found.
Much chatter was between the explorers, and it took a bit of reprimanding to get their mouths shut. Several minutes later, we found ourselves climbing the black, rough demonic rocks that piled themselves on top of each other to form the giant volcano, which I believed to be the origin of evil. Two brave explorers decided to look inside, but when they gazed inside the horrid volcano, their faces cracked in terror more horrible than any earthly fears. As the blood drained from their heads, their faces morphed into something unrecognizable due to their extreme agony, and petrified into stone. I could hear their screams as they tumbled into the whirling vortex of pure horrifying madness.
Condemned into the abyss, the explorers faded from view as huge, writhing tentacles covered them up. Suddenly, a tumultuous rumbling sounded, and a large quantity of fire and brimstone suddenly spit from the massive furnace! The remaining crew ran as fast as we could, back on the ice floe, sailing back to Alaska. We ran into the woods. Terror surrounded us all throughout. What could we do? Oh, God! My mind could not bear this, and I ran deeper into the woods tearing my hair out.
When I woke up, I found myself in a hospital, where my leg was bandaged up and my chest cavity open. I was hurt badly, but from what? I searched in the depths of my memory, and I could not find anything... but wait! I then remembered a few short moments from where I forgot. I remembered running, screaming, with my mind throbbing, and I heard the bleating of a goat, but not just any goat. I saw a shadow, much larger than mine, and when I looked up, I saw nothing but three eyes staring at me, in the blank, gloomy darkness.
I do not know what triggered the memory, but I wrote it down on paper and stuffed it into my pocket so I wouldn't forget it.
When I healed, three weeks had passed since the expedition started, so I was ready to continue with my findings. I published what I found in the science magazine of WSC College, but all people thought of me was that I was mad and I was dangerous. I requested more assistance from the dean, but considering how two explorers "fell into the volcano," as the dean said, he hesitated to grant me more permission. Only my two closest friends and my only sibling, my brother, came to aid me. We passed through the woods of Canada, when I saw something God must forbid. I saw the general shape of men, over a fire, with strange people in robes chanting this phrase:
