Chapter Fourteen
Here Is The Place That I Love You

Delilah woke up to someone placing a gentle kiss on her forehead. She inhales then opens her eyes and sees Brent kneeling on the ground beside her. It's only then that she realizes that she's laying on her side in the bathtub. "Hey There, Delilah." Brent softly says and smiles. "Hi." She groggily says. Delilah woke up around ten o'clock this morning, showered, got dressed and brushed her teeth, but she was still tired, so she came and fell asleep in the tub.
"You.. sleep in your clothes?" He chuckles, looking down at her clothes; black jeans, black vans and a grey sweatshirt, that happens to be Brent's. "I woke up earlier, and got dressed, but I was still tired, so I came here and fell asleep." Delilah explains. She goes to sit up and Brent helps her sit up. Little does she know, Lilith explained to Brent that Delilah would most likely be asleep in the bathtub, and she explained to him that she felt safe in the tub.
"It's more comfortable than it looks." Delilah chuckles and he laughs.
He holds her hands, helping her stand up.
"Are you okay? You look like you haven't slept in a while." Brent asks her. She bites her lip, debating on if she should tell Brent the truth or not. "Something's wrong, what's the matter?" He asks her, gently pulling her closer to him, still holding her hands. "I'm afraid to tell you." She quietly says.
"Baby, you can tell me anything." He softly says. She swallows and looks to the ground.
"I was molested by when I was six years old." Delilah softly says, not looking him in the eyes. Brent's heart drops to the floor. "The anniversary of it was two weeks ago, and ever since then, I've been having nightmares of the day it happened over and over. I've barely slept in the past two weeks, because of the nightmares. I've ended up sleeping in the bathtub after I wake up from the nightmares, because I feel safe in the tub. I didn't wanna tell you, because I was, and am afraid that you won't like me anymore, that you'll leave me. Please don't be mad at me, Brent." She says, her voice getting weaker and sadder with grief and fear with every word as her body trembles.
Brent can't even respond, his heart aches with sadness and anger for her.
All he can do is hug her closely to him as she cries into his shirt.
"Please don't be mad at me." Delilah sobs against his shoulder.
Brent gently rubs her back, trying his best to comfort her. "I'm not mad at you, Baby. I understand why you didn't wanna tell me. I'm not mad at you, I promise." He softly says. Delilah continues to softly cry, and Brent sits on the edge of the tub, holding her in his lap. "Shhhh... It's okay... I'm here.." He softly and gently says, slowly rocking from side to side with her in his arms.
"Deep in the meadow, under the willow." He softly sings and Delilah recognizes the song and she hugs him closer to her body.
"A bed of grass, a soft green pillow. Lay down your head, and close your eyes. And when they open, the sun will rise." He sings and he notices her muscles relax a bit, and her cries soften. It's working. "Here it's safe, and here it's warm. Here the daisies guard you from every harm."
"Here, your dreams are sweet, and tomorrow brings them true. Here is the place that I love you." He sings and stops, because he doesn't know the rest of the lullaby. Delilah feels her heart swell in happiness because he knew about the lullaby.
Her tears slow to a stop, only sniffling every once in a while.
"How'd you know about the lullaby?" She quietly asks him about ten minutes later. "I know my Delilah." He replies and she laughs.
"Hey, look at me." Brent softly says and she pulls back to look at him.
Her brown eyes are red, the skin underneath her eyes slightly dark from the lack of sleep, and the tip of her nose is red from crying. She has tear stands on her cheeks, going from her eyes to her chin, and her skin is paler than usual. But Brent thinks she's still beautiful.
Delilah brings her hands up to hide her face, feeling self conscious.
"No, don't do that." He chuckles, taking her hands away from her face.
"I have an idea." He says. "What's that?" Delilah asks. "Go pack a bag with some clothes and whatever you need." He explains. Delilah's eyes light up with excitement, the sadness in them disappearing. "What for?" She asks. "We are going on an adventure." He grins.

Delilah gets up from Brent's lap and goes to the sink, pushing the sleeves of her hoodie up her arms. She turns on the tap and ties her hair back. She sticks her hand under the warm water and squirts a small amount of face wash into her palm before rubbing the suds all over her face.
"Why are you making that face?" Brent chuckles, noticing that her nose is scrunched up like something stinks. "Because this crap burns my face, and because it's really overwhelmingly strawberry-ish." She answers. "Overwhelmingly strawberry-ish." He repeats, laughing.
"Mm-hmm." Delilah nods and cups water up to rinse her face off.
"I'll be right back, okay?" Brent says as Delilah pulls a duffle bag from under her bed.
"Okay." She says and tilts her head back.
Brent kisses her and they separate a few seconds later. He goes downstairs and she removes clothes from her closet, folding them up in the bag. She packs two pairs of jeans, two pairs of shorts, some tee shirts, leggings to sleep in and underwear and socks.
Delilah goes to the bathroom and gets her small makeup bag from beside the sink and she places it in the bag. She makes sure that she has a phone charger and an extra incase Brent forgets to pack his. When she folds up a sweatshirt, arms snake around her waist and she slightly tenses, but relaxes when she realizes that it's just Brent.
"You scared me." She slightly laughs. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to." He says and rests his chin on her shoulder. "It's okay." She says and slightly leans back into his embrace.
"I asked David if it was alright if we went somewhere for a few days." He tells her.
"What'd he say?" Delilah asks.
"As long as you don't come back pregnant or with any broken limbs, we're good." Brent chuckles and she laughs. "No, not yet." She laughs. "So, where are we going?" She asks.
Brent laughs through is nose and pulls her closer. "I don't know yet. Where do you want to go?" He asks. "Anywhere, as long as it's with you." She replies.
"You are too cute, y'know that?" He chuckles. Delilah turns around in his arms and goes on her toes to kiss him.
"I know." She answers with a smile.
