“Ann “shouted Louise from downstairs
“Just coming “yawed Ann pulling a brush though her hair at the same time as choosing something to wear.
Finally Ann appeared to see 2 of her 3 younger sisters at the table. She looked around Louise was nine and sitting at the table so was Bella’s face was told you straight away she was excited her eighth birthday but meg wasn’t there she was fifteen 1 year younger than ann.
“Where’s meg?” Inquired Ann.
“Making a picnic!” Cried Bella obviously existed.
“Calm down” said Ann gently “what’s she making it for?”
Louise answered this time “me you and Bella are going on a picnic”
“What about meg” asked Ann teased.
“She’s coming too” groaned Bella.
“Are mum and dad coming?” Ann wondered.
“No just us” Louise told Ann
When Ann was finished her breakfast she went through to help Meg. Ann and meg made the sandwiches found four cakes four apples and some sweets and put them all in the picnic basket as well as what meg had already made .
“We are going to have a ball Meg!” Exclaimed Ann as they carried the picnic basket through to the dining room
“Yes!” Agreed Meg.
They all ran about trying to find something to take. Bella came down her favourite teddy Ollie and solitaire Louise got a ball and a notepad meg brought a book and a pack of cards Ann found her book as well as everybody’s rain jacket. It was all bunged in as well as the sun cream then they set off for their picnic with Bella and Louise running ahead while meg and Ann walking behind talking about as Louise said “boring teen talk” or as Ann said “book school and brilliants talk for people over 14”
Soon the picnicking party had found a lovely spot it was field full of beautiful little daisies. They laid down the picnic blanket and Ollie was first on to the blanket then all eight and nine year olds ran off to have a kick about. After a while Ann and Meg joined them. They split into teams and played until lunch.
“Wow! Bella exclaimed when she saw lunch “is I meant to eat all of that!”
“It’s not all for you” Louise said while stuffing a cake into her mouth.
They spent ages eating and played cards while doing so.
Eventually they finished lunch and Ann taught Louise and Bella how to make daisy chains while meg done some “vital reading” .it was an amazing day and the four sisters decided to do this every Saturday.
Time past and the four sisters kept to the decision made on that wonderful Saturday picnic .it was when Ann was 21, meg was 20, Louise was 14 and Bella was 13 that little Bella (well older now but that’s what every one called her ) spotted a problem at Ann’s wedding.
“Ann!” Bella shouted in sudden realisation.
“What’s the matter Bella” groaned Ann “I am busy so it better be important”
“will you still come for picnic‘s” Bella said not able to get the words fast enough.
“Why yes” Ann exclaimed as if it was stupide to think she wouldn’t.
“For ever and ever” Bella made sure.
“Until I’m ninety-two” Ann promised.
“And after that” Bella double checked
“Until I die” Ann said “does this look ok”
“Beautiful” the 3 sisters said in chorus
