One Boy and the World

Prt 1

Lanie and Glen have been friends since the third grade. They are both attending a dinner party when Glen introduces Lanie to his friend Steven, and Lanie introduces Glen to her friend Jamie. Jamie and Glen it it off great while Steven and Lanie hit it off rocky. "So Lanie what are you into these days?" Steven asks the girl across from him awkwardly. "Oh, I'm really into music and reading books." Lanie says with a smile. "That's great what kind of bands are you into?" he asks with a smile. Her eyes light up with excitement "I'm a really big fan of Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, Pink Floyd,and The Rolling Stones." "What about you wha are you into?" she asks. "Oh its nothing really,I just like to play golf." he gives an awkward smile. "oooo,that's really cool!" she smiles softly. Lanie looks over at Glen and Jamie laughing and smiling. "Glen you are such a funny man." Jamie says smiling "Thank you, Thank you very much" Glen says while doing an Elvis impression. Lanie says to herself "Always the funny man" "What did you say Lanie?" She looks up at Steven. "Huh? Oh I was just saying that Glen is always the funny man." Steven chuckles "Is he now?" he says raising an eyebrow. "He always makes the stupidest jokes that shouldn't be funny but when you've been friends with him as long as i have you've learned to laugh at almost everything he say." She says laughing "Here uhm hold that thought Lanie" He says looking up and over at Glen. Glen then looks up and sees Steven looking at him "Hold on just a second Jamie" Glen says still looking at Steven. "Oh yeah sure" Jamie says then turns to look at Lanie confused. Lanie looks back at Jamie and is just as confused. Steven and Glen walk into another room and start to talk, while Lanie and Jamie start to talk about what just happened. "Is everything okay Steven?" Glen asks "Yes everything is fine but I wanted to talk to you about Lanie like, what is she into, what is she like" Steven says sounding a little worried as if things aren't going well. "Seriously Steven you gave me such a worried look just to ask me what she's like, you know you can just ask her simple questions and i just know shell go into depth answering them." Glen said to Steven. "Sorry its just that i don't know what to ask her about. Like do i keep asking her about her favorite things or-" Glen cuts him off "Steven look all you have to do is be yourself around her" he says with a smile on his face "Just be myself, i'm afraid she wont like me Glen!" Steven started to panic a little. "Calm down bud its okay just take a deep breath, and its just Lanie she likes everybody." Steven starts to take deep breaths and calms down. "Now you better go back out there Steven she most likely wondering where you are."  glen says.  Steven looks at Glen clearly panicking. "Steven calm down, ask Lanie to step outside and that way you can get fresh air but you two will still be together." Glen says in a very calm voice. Steven nods "Okay I'll do that." They both walk out of the room and walk over to the girls. "Lanie may I speak to you outside" Steven says still somewhat panicking "Of course hun" Lanie says with a smile.
