Being single or having no toxic girlfriend is fun. Mas nakakapag-focus ako sa mga inaaral ko at mas nagkakaroon ako ng oras para sa sarili ko.

"Partners nalang kayo ni Mira," Thomas told me after he chose to be with Tristan. I pursed my lips and leaned my back on my chair. We're at our classroom while the prof discusses about venipuncture. "Bakit ba ayaw na ayaw mo ka-partner si Mira?"

"Makinig ka nga, mamaya mapatay mo ako sa lab," Tristan said with his forehead creased.

"Tanga, ikaw kukuha ng dugo ko. Ikaw ang makinig," Thomas replied.

I sighed and just waited for this lecture to be over. Almira is my partner in venipuncture. I know she likes me 'cause she confessed to me when we were still freshies. But she just backed off when she found out that I had a girlfriend.

Kalat naman na na wala na akong girlfriend ngayon... Elaine's been showing off her boyfriend on social medias. Maybe that is why she asked Thomas to let me be her partner.

"Relax," I said and chuckled when I noticed that she's a little tensed.

She's really pretty and nice. But I just... I just don't want to get into any kinds of relationship after what Elaine did to me.

"I'm sorry," she said and smiled a little.

"Ang saya naman maging ka-partner ni Gael," Kate said, Mira's friend. "Ang ugat mo, alam kaagad kung saan tuturukan."

I saw how she slightly nudged Mira.

"Tanggalin mo muna, gagi..." Tristan said to Mira when the tourniquet was tied on me for almost a minute now.

She rolled her eyes at Kate when Kate whispered something to her.

I pursed my lips and fixed my hair.

May umirap lang, Abreu na kaagad, Gael?

Pagkatapos ng klase ay gusto ko na talagang umuwi. Umuwi na 'yung dalawang bobo habang ako ay napahinto sa pag-mamaneho nang makita 'yung Aussie. Medyo maraming tao sa loob kaya nag-drive na lang ako paalis.

"Wala akong maintindihan," sabi ko at binaba 'yung reviewer para sa NMAT.

Napatangin si Dimitri sa akin. "You're doing a great job in medtech... Just tell Tita that you don't want to go to med school."

I winced. "Can you tell your Mom that you're not marrying Charlotte?"

Sumeryoso siya.

I let out a small laugh. "Exactly."

He rolled his eyes. "Kung nag business ka edi easy lang sana sa 'yo. Do you have regrets? I mean... You only chose that course because of a fifteen year old girl."

"She's..." I paused to do maths in my head. "Nineteen now."

He scoffed. "Do you even like what you're doing? Ginagawa mo parin ba 'yan para sa kaniya?"

I shook my head. "Dati, oo. Pero ayos na rin naman. Gusto ko na 'yung ginagawa ko. Hindi na lang talaga ako sigurado sa med school," I said as I shook my head. "I mean... That's more serious than this. Baka nga unang linggo palang hindi ko na kayanin."

Dimitri nodded. "I think they'll change their mind. You're the favorite son, anyway..."

That's true.

Ako naman dapat 'yung magmamana nung furniture company nila kasi ako nga 'yung 'paborito'. Pero nung sinabi ko sa kanila na gusto kong mag medtech, kay Kuya na mapupunta.
