"Don't think of it as me dying.. just think of it as me going to sleep, forever." She suggests, ready for what was about to come.
"Goodnight.." She mumbles sadly, her perfect eyes shutting and the love of her life being forced to watch. He quickly captured every single detail of her face, her dimples as she rested her last smile as well as the perfect eyebrows that lay on her forehead.
As he carries her lifeless body to the bed, setting her down for an eternal rest, his eyes full with tears he can't help but kiss her head.
"Goodnight, my love." He whispers, a tear dropping down his cold face.
He had lost everything, his wife, his energy and his reason to wake up in the morning.
'Life is like a piano, the white keys are happiness and the black keys are sadness.. you need both to play a beautiful tune.' His soulmate told him the first day they met, but without her, how could he play his mesmerising music? Without her, how could he live? Without her.. how could he be happy?
But perhaps, in a way, this is his happy ending. Seeing the one he loves most moving on to a new beginning. For he will live out the remainder of his life knowing that he was the one who made her laugh, smile and have fun.
She had his heart forever.
As he was fighting the urge to stay in the room with her, he quickly realised that it's better to let go and heal rather than to stay and feel pain. And that's what he did as he knew that's what she would've hoped for.
And when it was finally his time to begin his everlasting slumber, the last thought that came into his mind was seeing her again. The image of her face prepared him for whatever was about to come next.
"You're here!" She exclaimed from the other side of a cold, tiled room.
His face lit up, "I missed you!" He responds as they both run up to each other, hugging for the longest time.
This was their happy ending.
