Peps POV
As soon as night falls I plan my move, I sneak over to the Curtises house with my tank full of gas. I fill the gas in my truck, I'm about to jump in the car when the front door opens. I jump quickly in the bed of the truck, holding that they didn't see me. "See ya guys." Johnny says, "hey man what up?" I hear Dally's voice the one and only, my heart nearly stops what would he do if he found out I'm still in town?
"Go away." I hear Johnny yell at him "what?" Dally says when all the sudden I hear the others come out of the house "just cause you don't care about your sister doesn't mean we don't, we care way more than you." Someone yells at Dally "leave, don't come back until you find her." I hear very clearly Darry says, "hey what do you mean, I was really drunk last night what did I say?" Dally asks concern floods his voice, "oh just that you sister should go kill herself and never come back here or you might do it for her." Soda says "she knows I was drunk, she wouldn't have taken me seriously." "Yeah that's why she ran into the bathroom climbed out the window and we haven't seen her all day." Steve says "well the truck is still here so she hasn't made it far." Dally says, then he walks over to the truck and looks in the window, "she has the keys."
Soon most of them leave and the Curtises go back in their house, I get in my truck lock the doors and turn on the car. Shoot I think the headlights turn on automatically shining right in their house, I pull out of the drive way quickly. When someone bangs on my car door, I look over and see Sodapop hanging on my car door trying to open it. Then Darry comes running out of the house, Soda goes to the front of the car and blocks my way to drive forward. I roll down the window a smidge "what?" I ask angry they caught me, "can we talk?" Darry asks holding the car handle so I can't drive away, "talk." "Listen Dally was drunk stupid, he was playing truth or dare and his so called friends wrote on price of paper what he had to say. And we miss you, please don't leave." Darry finishes "I'm sorry but I'm don't belong anywhere, and I'm not going to be a burden on Dally because of those stupid socs I now have...never mind, I'm sorry." I say and put the car in reverse "wait! What didn't the socs do?" I look him dead in the eyes "I'm a girl, and a greaser, try and think of what they would do while I'm out all alone." I say then roll up my window, I think Darry got the hint because his eyes went wide and he started cursing a lot. I back up out of their street.
The whole time I'm driving I just think of what the old man will do to me.
