Your teeth shook and body shivered as you began to make your way up Dragonspine. "Wow...I have no idea how Albedo can deal with freezing weather!" You shakily say to yourself. It was a long walk from Mondstadt to Albedos workshop, in the heart of the chilly mountain. "Why did Kaeya have to task me at a time like this??" You had just become ill with a fever, so being in such harsh conditions would do you no good. You tried to focus on other things, such as your favorite food, what you were going to do once you were finished with your assignment, but the cold was overtaking your thoughts. You barely stumbled through Wyrmrest Valley before you practically collapsed in front of Albedo's workshop. Sucrose, his assistant, rushed to your aid.

"Oh, Y/N! Are you alright? Do you need me to take you in?" Though conscious, you could barely make out the words she was saying. You pointed to the campfires and she attempted to carry you over to one. She sat you down beside the fire and you felt at ease; like your whole body was melting and relaxed, and you could finally think straight.

"Oh, thank you Sucrose." You said. "I swear I was about to freeze to death! That idiot Kaeya assigned me to assist you and Albedo as soon as I contracted a fever. Talk about horrible timing."

"I'm sorry to hear that, Y/N. I can get you some warm milk? Or a Sweet Madame?"

"I'd like that, thank you."

As Sucrose walks off to prepare your meal, your mind begins to wander. You start thinking about when you had first joined the Knights; approximately 5 months ago. You were excited and eager to finally prove yourself to everyone, to finally be a part of Mondstadt. You intended to be a regular scout, patrolling areas and ridding them of any danger. You weren't especially talented, but you had trained fairly hard in the art of sword wielding. You began the recruitment, going against other eager soon-to-be knights. There were 17 in total, those of which you could remember none, not faces nor names. You were too focused on doing your best and shining through them all. After displaying all the hard work you had practiced and prepared for, the drafting was complete. You and 8 other people were chosen to be Knight of Favonius scouts, while the others were sent back to their residences for another 3 months of training before they could try out again. You were glad that your effort paid off. Your boss, Kaeya, would be in charge of handling and scheduling certain tasks for you and other scouts to preform. You had seen him around Mond quite often before, usually at Angels Share drinking his heart away with that bard Venti. You...had never taken a liking to Kaeya. There was really nothing wrong about the guy, but he just left a weird taste in your mouth, but it felt wrong for you to be so prejudiced. There was really nothing you could do about it, so you had no choice but to deal with it. For the first few weeks, it was easy rookie stuff. Emptying a few hilichurl camps, carrying documents and cargo to and fro, yknow, usual scout stuff. However, as you started to prove yourself worthy of more rigorous tasks, Kaeya assigned you with assisting a young alchemist and his apprentice. You read the names on the paper.

"Albedo, and Sucrose."

You were instructed to meet these knights at the alchemy station in the square. You approached the two and asked what they needed assistance for.

"Hello, Y/N. Are you the scout that was drafted by Kaeya?"

"The one and only."

"Excellent, me and my apprentice Sucrose needed some assistance with an experiment."

"Oh, that's no problem! What do you guys need me to do?" Your mind was thinking of all sorts of things. Maybe gathering materials, mapping out the procedure, perhaps carrying it out? You watch Albedo pull out a clipboard and scribble a few things down.

"Well, first, we require you to drink this." Albedo went behind the alchemy table and pulled out a mysterious, oddly red liquid. It was rather thick, with a vibrant and sheer glow to it. You were concerned to say the least, It's not everyday you get called down to drink a mystery liquid from an alchemist. But, the paper given to you said Albedo was the Chief Alchemist of the knights, so you had quite the large amount of faith in him.

"Oh, what's it for? What does it do to me?" You awaited the answer as Albedo writes more down.

"Well, It's supposed to show how this certain ingredient reacts with a normal human body. We assure you that It is nothing fatal, but you may experience pain and mild discomfort, if we are proven to be wrong with our calculations." Albedo hands you the concoction.

You stare as it swirls around in the vile. You can feel the pit of your stomach churning, and felt yourself getting nauseous. It had no scent; yet looked dreadfully disgusting to down. You felt 4 eyes on you, waiting for you to drink the potion, at any second. You hated being stared at, and wanting to wait no longer, you cocked your head up the down the hole it went. You initially felt fine; besides the incredibly vile texture it had slipping down your throat, but there was a faint taste of valberries, so you weren't going to throw up today, no sir. After drinking the liquid, you wipe your mouth and turn to the alchemists.

"How do you feel, Y/N?" Pain, discomfort? Anything of note happen?" He stares at you intently.

"I feel fine! Nothing is happening yet, I don't think...Is this all you needed?"

"Yes, it is. If you notice any symptoms in the next 20 minutes, please do report it to us. We advise you to stay near so we can get the most accurate results possible."

"Okay, no problem!"

You walk maybe 40 feet away to a nearby bench to relax. You found yourself staring at the gray, cobblestone paths. It was fairly easy to day dream in the cool, summer night of Mondstadt. Maybe 10 minutes or so go by before you begin to get sleepy. Very, very sleepy...

"y/n. Y/n...Y/N!!"

You were jostled awake as the frantic Sucrose shook your sleepy and semi-conscious body. Once she saw you open your eyes, she was overcome with relief. She sat down your milk and Sweet Madame on the rest beside you.

"Y/N, you really scared me there. I thought you had passed out from the cold, or because of your ailment, or..." She trailed off as she began to notice someone approach.

"Mr. Albedo! You're finally back! Y/N arrived here a short while ago, as well."

You look up to see Albedo walk towards you and Sucrose, handling his signature clipboard.

"Good to see you've made it, Y/N. Was the trip vigorous, or did you take it easy?"

The former, unfortunately. I was slipping in and out of consciousness when I first arrived here; Kaeya had the brilliant idea of sending me to Dragonspine whilst I'm sick." You sneeze.

"Oh, that's quite alright. Here, take this. He reaches behind his desk and gives you a small vile of...red liquid. It strikes major Deja vu in you.

"What...exactly...is it?" You ask.

"It'll help subside the cold and symptoms of your fever. And do not forget to eat the drink the food Sucrose has prepared for you, we have a long task for you that you should definitely prepare for."

He sets the little vile of medicine on the desk for you to take with your food. You pick up the glass of milk, open the vile, and simultaneously drink both liquids. Thankfully, the milk overpowered the slight bitter taste of the medicine.

You take the last bite of your Sweet Madame. You hand the plate to Sucrose and she smiles at you warmly.

"Mr. Albedo, Y/N, I'll be back shortly. I need to take a trip to the base camp to return some supplies they allowed me to borrow."

Sucrose takes the plate among other things down the mountain, leaving you and Albedo.

"So, Y/N, shall we get started?"
