Pierre's father works for the military. He's the one who orders the soldiers around.

Pierre was staring up at his new house thinking.
"Pierre" his mother called. He looked to his mother. She was holding out one of her bags.
"Would you help me?" She asked
"Yes, mama" he said and took her bag.
"Go up the stairs, go left and it's the last door" she smiled. He nodded and went in and upstairs.
He went into his parents room. It was MASSIVE.
He smiled and put the bags down on the bed. He went downstairs again. He saw his father talking to some men. Presumed to be men who were going to be working with him.
"Papa, where-"
"Pierre, can't you see I'm busy? Go ask your mother" he brushed him off.
Pierre wasn't surprised. His father was always busy. He went to the front of the house where his mother still was.
"Mama, where is my room?"
"Upstairs but on the right" she smiled.
He smiled and nodded again as he went upstairs. He opened his door seeing that it was equally as big.

He looked out the window, he saw another mansion.

It was abandoned but it was beautiful

It was abandoned but it was beautiful. There was a large gate and in front of it was some children. Around his age. He was curious. 'What are they doing?' He thought to himself. He proceeded downstairs and out to where his mother was smoking.
"Mama, who lives over there?" He pointed to the other mansion.
She looks over and looks at her son.
"Pierre, listen to me carefully. You mustn't go over there. Don't cross its gates, do you understand?"
Pierre was confused. Why wasn't his mother answering his question?
"Why, mama?" He questioned
She puts her hands on his shoulders "do you understand me, Pierre?" She was more persistent this time. He nodded slowly, still intrigued by the building.

"Are you hungry?" His mother suddenly asked.
He nodded again. His mother nodded as well.
"Aright, I will let the servants know" she smiled and kissed him on the head before going inside.
Pierre took one final look before going back inside.

That night Pierre was sitting at his window. He was looking at the stars, thinking to himself until something caught his eye he looked at the old mansion and noticed a small flickering light coming from one of the windows. He was confused of course. He thought it was abandoned. It looked so. He then saw a shadow standing at the window. He gasped and crouched down so whoever or whatever couldn't see him.

He peeked back through the window and the shadow was gone. He sighed of relief and went to bed.
