"mommaaaa-" luna called. "tell elliot to get off his ass! he's a disgrace to all fire dragon slayers ever!"
"there are three total fire dragon slayers, love," lucy sighed. "just because two of you are insufferable doesn't mean the third one has to be. but luna's vaguely right, elliot. you have to move out eventually."
"what was that about me being insufferable?" natsu planted a kiss on the top of his wife's head. "even after i agreed to do the dishes?"
"well, that's because i told you you're barely doing any work in the house," lucy protested. "you haven't been out on a job in weeks! at this rate, i'll grab erza and we'll go on a job without you."
"please don't do that, mom," luna sighed. "dad's awful at taking care of us."
"last time you left us alone with him, he put a slice of cheese on the pan and called it dinner." elliot agreed.
"he did- he did what?"
"look, in my defense, i thought that was how you made grilled cheese," natsu raised his hands up. "but, hey, we ordered food after that, didn't we?"
"yeah, no, you are definitely insufferable," lucy sighed. "anyways, kai's team should be stopping by to pick you up."
"wait, huh?" elliot jolted up. "what for?"
"i asked them to, sunshine," lucy said simply. "it's time you started taking on some jobs! put all that power to use."
"but mom-"
"no buts, elliot. you are tagging along on at least one job with them."
there was a knock at the door.
"oh, that must be them now," lucy clapped and natsu opened the door.
it was kai, one of the fernandezes, and two of the fullbusters. kai grinned. "dad!"
"kai!"
"the singular dragneel braincell has been reunited," the taller of the fullbuster girls snarked.
"actually, i own it right now," elliot raised his hand, and the fullbuster girl squinted.
"that might be true. i'm just not used to associating that face with intelligence. maybe layla took it with her on that job."
"midari, can you take ellie with you?"
the girl, presumably midari, arched an eyebrow. "on the job?"
"of course not! just to the guild hall."
"we can do that!" the younger fullbuster sister announced. she looked familiar; he thought layla took her out every now and again, but he never got her name. elliot felt like an awful brother; he didn't even know the name of his little sister's girlfriend.
"stars, mika, keep it down," midari hissed. "anyway, elliot, right? i hope you aren't anything like your twin brother."
"we only share a face," elliot assured her, getting up. "i'll go if it gets my mom off my back."
"the dragneel twins are go!" kai cheered.
"no one even knows that you have a twin brother," daisuke drawled.
midari rolled her eyes. "you want to be rin and sylv so bad it makes you look stupid. or storm and i, for that matter. but we haven't done a job together in ages."
"wouldn't mind being the fullbuster twins, honestly," elliot mused. "seems like they get along."
"they're practically glued together," midari breathed a laugh.
