I took out the rope. It was a jump rope. The murderer must have used this jump rope to choke their victims. I was astounded.
Pete took the jump rope out of my hands and said, "You found it! My jump rope! I was looking for this all day! I almost missed my daily workout! Whatever was my jump rope doing in the trash?"
Then, Steve came out of nowhere and cried, "That's because you are the murderer!"
Pete acted flabbergasted. "What? But-but I'm innocent!"
Steve thought otherwise. "You were in the same room as Thompson when he was murdered. And your jump rope was in the trash, what a horrible way to discard the evidence. Then, you were also in the same room when Bella was stabbed. Your fingerprints were on the knife--"
"That's ridiculous!" said Pete, "Everyone's fingerprints were on the knife!"
"How did you know that? That information is classified!" Steve cried.
I spoke up, "No, it wasn't classified. You announced it to everyone."
Steve continued, "And you were also in the same room as Bella when she died. And John. And NOW we see your jump rope in the same room AGAIN. You didn't even deny it was yours! And you've been stalking my apprentice!"
Pete was on the verge of crying when Steve cuffed him and dragged him down to the basement.
