Did You See Her Face?

Inside the house it was quaint and warm. Yellow was the color scheme, but not in a nasty way. A pale yellow was the wall color, but there were light orange and pink accents in the frames and pictures that decorated the walls. After entering the house Lucifer and Chloe turned to the burnette who had welcomed them in.

"Thank you so much. I'm Chloe."

She stuck out her hand to shake. The brunette looked down and then back at Chloe. Chloe followed the motion and looked down at her hand, realized it was muddy, then she retracted it.

"Sorry."
"It's okay. I'm Sophia." She looked and smiled at Lucifer.
"Uh, I'm Lucifer."
"Oh I've heard of you! You run that club in L.A. I have to say the descriptions I've heard don't do you justice."

Lucifer gave and awkward chuckle before looking down, really anywhere to avoid eye contact. Chloe looked at him, quickly snapping back to Sophia.

"Um, you wouldn't mind if we showered and washed our clothes would you?"
"Uh, yeah. I only have one shower though-"
"That's okay we can shower together. Oh we don't have other clothes though."

Sophia was still stuck on the 'showering together' thing. She was lost in thought when Chloe waved in front of her face.

"Sophia, are you okay?"
"Yeah, sorry. Um, you can borrow one of my robes, and I'm sure one of my exes left behind something for him to wear."

Chloe nodded and they fumbled their way to the shower. The house was rickety, but the bathroom was nice. The shower was big and had two heads. They stood on opposite ends to wash up. After a bit Chloe chuckled and Lucifer looked back at her.

"What?"
"Nothing. Just, did you see her face when I told her we'd shower together?"
Lucifer let out a chuckle before answering, "Yes, poor thing was flirting mercilessly. Couldn't you have told her in a nicer way we're dating?"
"We're together, muddied, on a strangers front door steps at night. What else could she have possibly though?"
Lucifer chuckled again. "I don't know."

Sophia had grabbed their muddy clothes and replaced them with some comfy night wear. After showering, they changed into the comfort clothes Sophia had brought. Lucifer's were a bit small, but they worked nonetheless. When they walked into the kitchen, Sophia was brewing tea. She heard them walk out and looked at the two.

"Um, I figured after the cold, some tea might be nice. Uh, and then after you guys can sleep on the futon."
Chloe smiled. "Thank you. We really appreciate it."
"Yeah. I'm sorry for flirting with your boyfriend, I didn't know-"
"It's okay, don't worry."

They sat down to drink tea and talked. Sophia was actually wonderful. She had moved here from Mississippi when she was twelve. When she was eighteen she wanted to move to the country side, so after finishing college, she moved and started a farm. Sophia listened to Lucifer's story of his past, and then to Chloe's story of the cases they'd solved.

It was nearly one in the morning when Sophia decided it was time to go to sleep.

"There's blankets on the couch, and don't worry about the dishes. I'll do those tomorrow."
"No, we can wash a few cups." Chloe said.

Sophia smiled before leaving the kitchen. After the cups were washed, Lucifer and Chloe laid
down. Lucifer wrapped his arm around Chloe and pulled her close.

"What are we gonna do tomorrow about your car?"
"Hopefully we can use Sophia's phone to call someone."

Lucifer hummed before drifting to sleep. The morning brought sunlight, it filtered through the clouds and brought relief to Chloe. Sophia gave them their clothes back after they were cleaned, and within a few hours Chloe's car was fixed and ready to go. They thanked Sophia again, before driving home to rest in a comfortable bed.
