Jahnique's POV

Walking out of that conference room was quite easy for me. Well not so much, knowing that I had humiliated by boss without apologizing. But who cares? No one does. It's even worst knowing that I for one, didn't give a damn. Lie! I did care am just deluding myself here.

Not even the slightest act of sparring a backward glance did I commit because my conscience would just gobble me up whole and make me conjure up a few apologetic phrases. Which I sure as hell was determined not to do being that I would never go back on my word.

This one week break would really give me enough time to visit my family back home. As well as time to stop having impure thoughts about that nauseating man I call my boss.

Cleaning out my office, I took the contents of my desk and placed everything in the large empty safe on my filing cabinet. Snatching up my laptop and other necessary belongings, i walked to the door and gave the office I loved so much a satisfying look once more. It resembled the mental image I had stored the first day I came here a year ago. Isolated and abandoned. Well that's the way it will be until my return. Spick-and-Span.

After I left that lifeless building, I decided to call my grandma and let her know I was coming home for a week. Today was Friday so I had absolutely nothing to worry about. I decided to book my ticket for tomorrow upon reaching home. Finally I could breathe fresh air as I took a stroll in the nearby park.

(Meanwhile elsewhere...)

D'Andre's POV

Walking back to my office pissed as hell, I realized that her office door was closed. This in particular was strange since she never locked that damn office door of hers. With curiosity eating away my insides, I sauntered over there and turned the knob. The view knocked the wind out of my chest. I was basically immobile for a minute or two there.

This seriously cannot be happening. Was she this crazy? I mean...i knew she didn't accept bullsh*t from people but she was the one to blame.

All her assets were missing. Did she really take that one week suspension serious? I only did that to show authority. Damn it, I could feel my head throbbing, symptoms of a headache. Gosh!!!

Face palming myself I stormed off to my office. "I am about to give that woman a piece of my mind!" I yelled through gritted teeth. Upon reaching the office I gave the door a heart felt slam. This woman had the ability to make me do crazy things.

She has been the subject of my thoughts for about a year now. There's just something about her that had me wanting to know her more. Seriously speaking though, she's nothing like the girls i've previously date. Those gold-digging whores. Oops! My bad but it is the truth. They all wanted me for my money. Not one of them took the time out to know me.

Settling in my chair that  overlooked the beautiful but busy city, I dialed her number on my iPhone. Have I told you that sitting around waiting patiently for what I want is not my strongest suit! Well there you have it.

She picked up on the third ring.

"Hello good afternoon, Ms. Valentine speaking." Dear lord! Her voice was like music to my ear. It send cool chills down my spine. Only if she knew what she did to me both physically and mentally.

"Good afternoon. Mr. Johnson here. I'm just calling to find out why your office is completely void?"

"Well Mr. Johnson if I haven't somehow developed amnesia in the last few hours, I vividly recall you giving me a one week suspension." She replied and I could sense the disgust in her tone. What did I ever do to let her hate me this much?

"Yes so do I but that was just a statement. It wasn't ment to be carried out." I said softly.

"Listen, am already on my way to the airport. So am sorry to inform you that I take certain statements very literal." She said an inkling of victory in her voice. " Oh," she continued. "Just to give you a heads up. Other firms have been giving me the opportunity to join them. Am thinking about taking one of those offers. So until then, i'll see you when I get back." She just hung up on me.

No, no, no!!! I sailed the phone across the room as rage surged out of every single pore I had on my body. It landed into the wall with a loud bang. I was so fucking furious that I scattered everything on my desk including my laptop to the floor in one clean sweep. With my back against the glass wall, I slid down to the floor. "F**k!" I hollered and kicked the edge of my desk. "Ow! Shit that hurts." Ya think,  my inner voice snickered as i squealed in pain. I really messed this up I figured. And there goes my one chance of having something special with a woman. Ugh!

I really need to up my game and fast too.

In no mood for conversation, as if on cue my receptionist barged into the room. She was holding a few folders in her hand but they instantly fell to the ground as her hands shot to her heart. Her eyes widened in utter shock and her mouth formed an 'O'.

Well look at that am so damn screwed. To have an employee witness me at one of my lowest point was just..... Argh!! Where is God when I need him?
