My ears flopped in the chilly wind my paws grinding in the ground. I was running hold my tears back. Misused and abused. If I would have known I was being lied to this whole time, things wouldn't be the same. Grinding and grounding I paw the dirt thinking to myself. I blink rapidly trying to set the story straight.

"Hey, Faye!"Rosa, my cousin cheers. I smiled at her warm aura. Her purple eyes glistened. I wrinkled my nose as she bumped it with her finger.

"Hi, Rosa! You're cheery this morning!" I squeaked at her. My voice sounded whiney and too young and I hated it. I coughed opening it would stop the squeaking. Rosa smiled at me and grabbed the top of my head. Purple strands of hair fell on my purple eyes.

"You know it cousin!" She piped again. Rosa was 13 years older than me. I don't know much about my past and I don't intend to ask. I know how much it upsets my cousin.

I do know that Rosa ran with both of us when our home pack was facing evil. She protected both of us only when she was 16. I was always in awe of her bravery. Rosa was the strongest person I know. Even with my biological parents dead, she helped me find my new mother, Ara. Rosa's parents were also dead. I worried for her constantly.

"Rosa!" I said song-like. She giggled and moved her hand off my head. I straightened my hair and groaned. It took me forever to style and she ruined it. Rosa cheered in her small victory. I rolled my eyes. Rosa and I walked to the living room to meet the other members of the pack. Rosa was dating Jared one of the other guy members. I had my sister, Haylei from adoption. I had my long-lost sister, Novie, Haylei's twin, but she was still missing.

I studied the room of werewolves. Everyone was in human form which was rare to see. I stood next to my cousin who was now walking to Jared. I looked for Mimi and Nino, the other two members. Nino was 15 and Mimi was 14. They were both older than me but they were all run away. Nino and Mimi ran from an abusive pack 4 years ago. They've been close friends of mine. I sprinted slightly across the room and tackled Nino.

"Nino!" I yelped happily tackling him to the floor. He groaned as he hit the wood floor. I laughed as Mimi started giggling.

"Get off me, Faye," Nino said. I stood up and held out a hand to Nino. He stood up. Nino was taller than me but it never scared me. Mimi wrapped me in a tight hug. She and I were the closest.

Looking at the two werewolves in front of me, I smiled at the family atmosphere. It sometimes lingered with me that I was running from my past. I didn't think much of it though. There was a time and place for my past. I laughed as the exchange of jokes passed but the dissipation in me lured me. Something in me told me something was about to happen. I wasn't depressed or anything just curious.

The room filled with energy as more people woke up. I still couldn't see my sister or mother but I had Mimi and Nino. I looked and saw Haylei with Quinn, her best friend. I smiled at my sister but she just glanced away. I frowned. Haylei was 19 so it wasn't uncommon she was uninterested in seeing her younger, 13-year-old sister. There's still a part of me that knows Haylei will never consider me her sister. But that was what she was to me. I smiled at Quinn who just groaned and dragged Haylei. I glanced down and back at Nino and Mimi.

"Is your sister still being cold to you?" Nino said. I nodded. I knew it wasn't right but Haylei lost her twin and I didn't want to be Novie's replacement.

"It's okay, Nino. She's with Quinn right now," I said. I grinned at him to ask him to leave it alone. He nodded. His eyes shifted to Red the color of anger. His special power.

Everyone around here had a special power along with transforming to a wolf. Nino had color-changing eyes that gave him special abilities based on color. Mimi has super hearing she can hear up to five miles away. Haylei has super speed. Rosa, Mama, and Jared have super strength.  Lastly, Jared had invisibility. I was the oddball out of the group not having a special power. I was usually jealous but I didn't let it consume me. Not everybody had special powers, usually, alphas or the alphas children and headmates had powers. We call our pack a pack of runaway Alphas.
