You Were Always The One (Jai Brooks Love Story)

Chapter Four

As I walked into the lounge everyone’s eyes suddenly fell on me. I hope I didn’t look like I’d been crying. “Charlotte’s here!” Luke said to all the fans that were watching the twitcam. I walked in front of the laptop and took a seat next to Danielle, as usual. “Hey guys!” I said as I tired my best to smile. From the corner of my eye I could see Jai sitting on the couch looking at his phone, still being moody and quiet. What was wrong with that boy? It hurt me that he couldn’t talk to me about what was upsetting him. We used to be so close and we used to tell each other everything. Maybe things weren’t the same anymore? Was our friendship really starting to fade away? I surely hoped not. I felt the tears sting at my eyes, threating to fall again. I wouldn’t cry now. Not here where everyone could see and especially when the fans were watching. 

I was brought out of my thoughts when I heard Luke talking to the fans about their next video. The boys hadn’t been filming much lately, due to their signing with MTV and their new single, “Set This World On Fire”, which I was so proud of them for. They’ve been working really hard and even though with all the hate they still followed their dreams and never gave up. “Our next video will be a Dare Sundays video and if you guys want, Charlotte, Danielle, Taylor and Naomi can all feature in it as well! What do you guys think?” Luke said. All of a sudden, heaps of people were commenting, saying all different things:

 @JANOSKAINS_LOVER: “Omg I’d love to see them in a video with you guys! Xx”

@Lukes_Wife: “Ewww, no! Only the Janoskians do Dare Sundays.”

@Beaus_Girl: “Omg you’re seriously not going to let them spoilt bitches do you video with you guys? Wtf?”

@JaisFav: “Yes Luke! I’d love to see it!”

@Janoskians_Forever: “So excited!! Can’t wait to see it!”

 I just ignored the hate comments. We always got hate for being friends with the boys. They always told us to ignore it though. So that’s what I did. “We’ll be doing some totally different dares so stay tuned for that one guys!” Beau said. “More tuned than tuna?” Luke said to Beau. We all started laughing. “Yes Luke, more tuned than tuna.” Danielle said as she leaned forward and kissed him on the cheek. They were so cute!

 For the next hour we just spoke about the new single and the boys’ new MTV show. We also told the fans to give us some dares to do since we were bored. I guess it would make the night a little more interesting as well. People were commenting all different dares for us to do. Some were gross and some just plain weird. After we all did a few crazy dares, there was one comment in particular that stood out. Of course, Luke read it out. “Charlotte and Jai should go out!” Luke said as he looked at Jai then at me. Jai’s eyes lifted from his phone and looked at me. Well this was awkward. Everyone went from talking to silence. I just sat there next to Danielle, staring at Jai. I did love him, I really did. I’ve been ignoring my feelings for him for so long. Luke just made things so much more awkward now.

 Luke’s P.O.V:

I saw the comment and I just had to read it out. I knew it would make things awkward but I did have a plan after all. I guess you could say this was me sticking to it. I knew Jai liked her, even though he wouldn’t admit it, not to me or to anyone else but I knew he did. I guess it was a twin thing. I knew she liked him too, everyone knew besides them! It was actually quite funny. My plan was to make her realise it and well this was me doing it. Yeah, Jai would probably hate me for what I’m about to do but I know he’ll thank me for it later. “Charlotte and Jai should go out!” There I said it. Everyone went silent. I looked at Jai and then at Charlotte. They were just staring at each other. Hopefully she realises soon, that this has been the reason that Jai’s been acting so moody lately.

Jai’s P.O.V:

I swear I could have punched Luke right then and there. I honestly don’t know what he was thinking. Yeah, he might be a little suspicious that I like Charlotte but why the fuck would he read out that comment. Didn’t he know it was going to make shit awkward? Or was he doing it on purpose? I swear I could strangle him right now. I couldn’t take it anymore. I didn’t want to be in this twitcam in the first place so why am I still sitting here? I got up and stormed off. “Fucking hell!” I mumbled to myself. Hopefully no one heard. I went and got ready for bed. I honestly couldn’t care what anyone thought of me right now. All I wanted was her and now I knew that my chance had definitely gone now.

 Luke’s P.O.V:

Jai got up and left the room. I wasn’t surprised. I knew he was pissed at me. Well, I guess I better go and have that chat with him now since we would be alone, I thought to myself. I quickly apologized and told the fans that we had to end the twitcam. Once we did, I shut down the laptop and went to go find Jai leaving the others in the lounge talking softly. I walked up to our bedroom door and quietly opened it, checking to see if Jai was asleep or not. I saw Jai lying on his bed with his headphones in his ears. I walked into the room, closed the door behind me and sat down next to Jai.

“Jai…” I whispered as I lightly shook his shoulder. He instantly turned around and took an earphone out. “Luke, I’m really not in the mood for talking, so please just leave before I feel tempted to punch the shit out of you.” “Jai, look I’m sorry. I know you think what I did was wrong and in all honesty, it probably was but you need to understand that I was doing it to try and help you out. I know you like Charlotte, and before you try and deny it don’t bother because I know you do. I’m not an idiot.”  I sat there waiting for a response. “YES! OKAY LUKE! I LIKE CHARLOTTE!!! ARE YOU HAPPY? I HAVE FOR SO LONG NOW AND YOU JUST HAD TO RUIN EVERYTHING TONIGHT.” Jai practically yelled at me before turning around again to face the wall.

He finally admitted it to me! Now I definitely knew that I did the right thing tonight. “I know Jai but you have to understand I was only trying to help you. If Charlotte realises that you like her then maybe, just maybe, there might be hope for you guys after all.” I said with a sympathetic smile. “Really Luke? How do you know that? What if she doesn’t feel the same way? Our friendship would be ruined. HOW CAN YOU EVEN SAY THAT TO ME WHEN YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW FOR SURE HOW SHE FEELS!!!” I looked into Jai’s eyes. “Jai, look at me! You’re right I don’t know for sure if she feels the same way about you but what I do know is that Charlotte cares about you a lot. You’re her best friend for god sake! Whatever happens I highly doubt that she would stop being your friend, we’ve known her for so long and that friendship would mean too much to just be thrown away.” I took a minute to pause. “Also, well I feel like I owe you in some way. Charlotte is the one that introduced me to Danielle in the first place, and well Danielle has seriously has been the best thing to ever happen to me in a long time. I just want you to be happy brother, like how I am, with Danielle. I know Charlotte’s the girl for you that can make that happen. Anyway, that’s all I wanted to say.”

 As I said those last words I stood up and began to leave the room. “Luke wait!” Jai yelled out to me, as I was about to walk out. I turned around and looked at him. “Thank you. I appreciate what you’re trying to do. I just don’t want to stuff things up. She means too much to me.” I smiled at him and said, “I know Jai, trust me, I saw her reaction back there; she definitely knows something’s up. Just tell her how you feel when you’re ready. That’s all you can do.” In saying that I left the room so Jai could get some rest and just calm down and process our little heart-to-heart chat. Hopefully he’ll feel better tomorrow. I’m glad he finally understood what I was trying to do, that’s all I wanted, for him to be happy and no better girl to do that for him than Charlotte.
