Welcome all. . . to the apocalypse.
It's the year 4075, and the world as we once knew it is.. gone; it's been this way for almost a century. Back in 3975, our world leaders got into an "argument", neither one wanted to listen to what the other had to say, and as a result.. war. Now, this war lasted for about 25 years, it grew worse and worse over the years until it just- stopped. Everyone seemed to have forgotten what exactly they'd been fighting for, and by the time they did; it was already too late. Most of the world's major cities and recourses had been destroyed and many of their civilians either died because of the war or lack of essential recourses. People began to get sick, very sick, and many died from the sickness, The result of that? The Devil's Flu; anybody who got the sickness died within 6 hours, and then came back. Picture one of those "zombie apocalypse" movies. Yeah, they're real; and they're scarier and more dangerous than what we've pictured them as inside our minds. The Devil's Flu isn't something I'd wish upon anybody. Do you think I'm joking..? Well, first, it starts with a runny nose, then a bad cough, and soon enough you're coughing up this purple liquid. Burns your throat and skin like acid I've heard; soon enough you start to rot, alive, your skin turns an ash gray and your hair falls out. And of course, there's a fever, one so bad it'll kill you within the probable thirty minutes you've left to live; if you're not put down by your family before the rotting or fever that is. If you're not, you come back as either a rotter, snarler, crawler, rager, or spitter. If you're an animal, you'd turn into either a prowler or a howler. But, we'll learn about those later on, all you need to know for now is that howlers are what we call "pack alphas" and prowlers are the followers, now, back to the rotters. They aren't that much of a problem, they're the older infecteds, more decayed, rotten, they've been alive much longer than the others, and they're slower. Most rotters I've seen we're just growling piles of flesh and bones left on the ground to finish decaying, but the few live rotters I've seen we're slow, slow enough for some target practice if you're in the mood. Snarlers, they're a bit more of an issue. Snarlers earned their name for one obvious reason, they snarl; often so loud they attract any nearby crawlers and ragers. They're also one of the only breeds of infecteds who cannot spread the Devil's Flu the way the other infecteds do. That doesn't mean they don't bite, they do. They have the power to tear off an arm or a leg with just a couple of bites. When snarlers die, the Devil's Flu spreads through the air around them. It gets into your system by any open wounds on your body, cuts, scrapes, small things like that, that's why you shouldn't go near a dead snarler, a dead snarler is just as dangerous as the other breeds of infecteds. Now, crawlers are the ones you have to worry about; they've no eyes, nose, and only one ear. They also seem to have super hearing, almost, and have almost the same amount of jaw strength as a snarler, except crawler teeth are ragged, chipped, and curled inwards, sharpened to horrifying perfection. This breed of infected stands rather low to the ground, holding their slender bodies up with two very long arms; which they use to crawl at almost inhuman speeds along the ground, their nails grow long and pointed, these creatures rely on sound and sound alone. Crawlers only bite to infect, not kill. Ragers are probably the most dangerous breed of infected, or, right up there with spitters. Ragers are similar to howlers; because when provoked, they release an ear-piercing shriek, and like the snarlers draw any infected within hearing distance right to you. Now, onto the spitters. Spitters are extremely dangerous, earning their names for spitting acid from the massive acid-filled pockets that grow on the backs of their necks and on their chests. Spitter acid can reach up to 20ft., and yes, spitters do explode when killed. Well, now that you've got a basic understanding of how this all happened and what the infecteds do, let's get on with the story then, hm?
