King of Her Heart

The Announcement

Star smiled ear to ear at Marco. He made her just... so happy. Marco noticed this and kissed her once again, catching her by surprise. She blushed and giggled. 

"Welp, it's about time to head home, Star." Marco said.  Star gave him the puppy dog face.

"Come on Starshine, you want to tell my parents over a nice dinner, riiight?" Marco said, smirking.

Star instantly cheered up and smiled. She loooves Marco's cooking, and always looked forward to eating his meals. 

"Okay! Let's go!" She giggled. Star took Marco's hand and cheerfully started walking with him.

'Works every time.' Thought Marco. 

The once blue sky had become a gorgeous orange-pink as the sun set. The clouds were a pale lilac. Star sighed, taking in the beautiful view. Mewni had breath taking sights, but something was special about Earth and the people inhabiting it. She gazed at Marco, thinking about how lucky she was to have him in her life.

"Whatca looking at, Butterfly?" her fiancé asked.

"Oh nothing. Just the future king of Mewni." Star replied. 

Marco's stomach jumped at the thought. King of Mewni! He liked the sound of it. He couldn't wait to tell his parents! What would they think? Would they disapprove of him being gone? Marco was 20 after all. He was gonna move out eventually. 

"Marco? We're here." Star said, interrupting his inner debate. 

"Oh! Gotcha." Marco twisted the keys and unlocked the door. "Mom? Dad? We're home!" He announced.

"There you two are! We wondered where you went! We got home a few minutes ago." Angie said, giving both of them a hug.

"Where did you guys go, hijo?" Asked Rafael.

"Just on a little park date!" Star exclaimed.

"Yep! I better get started on dinner." Marco added. 

"Oh! You don't have to make dinner hijo!" Angie said.

"No, but I want to! My treat!" Marco smiled.

"Well, okay!" His mother replied.

Star walked over to Mariposa, who was playing in the living room.

"Whatca got there, sweetie?" She asked.

"Dollys! Wanna play wiff me?" The five-year-old replied.

"I'd love to!" Star grinned and grabbed a doll as she sat down.

(Small time skip, brought to you by Starco)

"No! Save me Prince Marcus!" Star said in a high pitched, silly voice.

"I'll wescue you, Pwincess Stella!" Mariposa giggled.

"Dinner is ready!" Marco yelled from the kitchen.

"Come on Mari! Let's go eat!" Star said, picking her up. She walked to the dining room and set Mariposa down in a seat with a small booster, just so she can reach the table.

"Need any help setting the table, babe?" She asked Marco.

"Nope! I got it! You go sit, Starshine." He said, kissing her on the cheek. 

Star sat across from Mari, and Angie sat next to her daughter, while Rafael sat at the head, by Angie. Marco came in and dished everyone up. He had made tamales, rice and beans, and a quesadilla for Mariposa. He also whipped up a batch of horchata (without dairy!). When he was done, we got himself a plate and sat next to Star. 

"Mmm! Hijo, this is FANTASTIC!" Rafael exclaimed. 

"Thanks, Dad!" Marco laughed.

"So, any special reason why you made this massive dinner?" Angie asked, about halfway through the meal.

Marco and Star looked at each other.

"Well actually, there is. Star?" Marco said.

"Wellll.... While at the park earlier, I asked Marco to marry me!" Star smiled softly, looking at him.

"And I said yes!!" Marco exclaimed excitedly.

Angie and Rafael's jaws dropped. 

"¡Es maravilloso! Congratulations, you two!!" Rafael shouted.

"Do Star's parents know yet?" Angie asked. 

"We're telling them on Friday. Are... Are you guys okay with me, you know..." Marco said nervously.

"What? Becoming king? Of course we are hon! Just make sure to call and visit often! We'll do the same, obviously." Angie smiled.

"Don't worry, we will!" Star said. Marco sighed in relief.

"What's happening?" Mariposa asked, confused.

"Me and Star are going to get married. You know, husband and wife!" Marco explained.

Mari's eyes lit up.

"Weally?! Can I be the flowewa guwl?" 

Star laughed and said, "Of course you can, Mari!"

"I'm glad you awe mawwying my bwother, Staw!" Mariposa giggled.

Marco smiled and took Star's hand. She smiled back at him and said, "So am I."
