Prologue

It is June 3 at 8:30 am, wearing my favorite tuxedo, I walk to the altar with a smile on my face. And I just stood there. I, finally, saw the love of my life. She was wearing a white silk dress, a veil and in her hand a bouquet of white-colored roses. She was going to the altar, too. But I just wished that I was the person she was giving her life to. We were best friends, you know? We did everything together. She never told me any great story in her life because I lived every single one with her.

I AM HER BEST FRIEND. I AM ONLY HER BEST FRIEND.

As I see her walking down the aisle, I remember everything we've been through. And I'm just hoping she will too.

I am John Smith. And this is the story of how I fell in love with my best friend.

Chapter 1: The First Time

22 years from now, A million days ago, I remember when we first met. It was September 24. We were 6 years old and Grade 1 pupils. Even then, she was one of the most popular girls in school, and I was one of the push overs. Some boys were pushing me and making fun of me. I was so near to crying. But then she went in front of me to shield me and shouted "Hey! Don't mess with him! He isn't doing anything to you!". The boys just shrugged and said "You're lucky we don't fight girls!" and they left. She looked at me. I thought she was going to laugh but instead she said "Are you okay? Did they do anything?" I was about the answer but then I saw her face, her rosey pink cheeks and her smooth black hair and her beautiful eyes. I couldn't even speak. Then she said "Hey! Hey! Earth to you! You still there?" I was shocked, of course, but Thank God I was able to come up with an answer "I- I-... Umm... Ah... Ye- Yeah. I'm fine." The bell rang. "Hey you wanna have lunch with me?" she asked. And without hesitation I nodded. We went to the canteen. "Isn't it weird that, I'm actually having lunch with you and I don't even know your name?" she laughed sarcastically. I managed to put on a smile. I was never really the happy-go-lucky type. "Yeah. I guess so." I said and she looked at me sarcastically. Then I realized, I was supposed to introduce myself. "I- I am John Smith." "John Smith. Nice name. I am Jenny Sullivan." she smiled at me. And that's when our friendship started, I guess. I was kid, I didn't know what love was but I already felt it. But, I guess you never really know what love is. The first time I saw her my life changed forever and no matter what it was I could never deny it. I was in love.

I felt butterflies in my belly and I could just talk to her all day. I feel happy when I'm with her. It's like everything and everyone was never there when I'm with her.

"Hey!" I heard someone whisper. It was Jerome. He was sitting in the front pew that was very next to me. It brought me back to reality. "Oh. I'm fine." I replied. Jenny just arrived at the altar. Then I look at the groom. Jeremy Olsen. And another memory resurfaces.
