Sydney's POV

I was still frozen. I couldn't believe he was standing in front of me. I turned around and tried to run but he put his foot in the door and forced it open. I ran as fast as I could to get away from him. I bolted up the stairs and ran into my bedroom.

                      "Come on, Sydney! You can't hide in there forever. One way or the other you'll have to come out eventually. When you do I'll be waiting." he left out of the house and pulled out of the driveway. I was shaking uncontrollably. I guess when Channing heard the doorbell he thought it was okay to leave. I laid on the floor in a ball. I was shaking so bad that I barely heard the roar of a motor outside. I started hyperventilating thinking he was back. The front door was standing wide open. I ran to it and slammed it shut.

A few seconds later I heard a pounding on the door. I cringed and felt tears spring to my eyes. "Leave me alone!" I screamed at the figure behind the door. "Sydney?!" I recognized his voice instantly. I ran to the door and flung it open. He had a shocked look on his face but I didn't care. I jumped into his arms and held onto him with all I had left. I had my legs around his waist so he walked us into the house and closed the door. He walked over to the couch and sat down so I was straddling him. He pushed my hair out of my eyes.

                       "What's wrong Syd? Did you and Channing get in a fight?" I shook my head and looked at him. "Then what happened Sydney?" I took a long shaky breath and began to tell him what happened

                          "After you left Jake, I went upstairs and got dressed. When I came down I heard the doorbell ring and it was Channing. When he came in I went to the kitchen and then we came back to the living room and talked a little bit. His phone rang while we were talking and he went to the other room and talked to whoever it was. When he came back he said that his grandfather had been put in the hospital and that his mom needed him. I told him that he should go and he said that he didn't want to leave me alone and he knew you'd kill him if he did. I told him to call Will and he did and Will told Channing to stay with me until he got here. When I heard the doorbell ring I thought it was Will. So I went to the door and opened it and Troy was standing there. I tried to slam the door in his face but he put his foot in the way. He chased after me and told me that he would keep looking for me and that I'd have to come out eventually. I guess Channing left when he heard the doorbell ring." Jake was stroking my back and trying to calm me down. He put his hands on either side of my face and made me look at him.

                       "Listen to me Sydney. He is NOT going to get you. I will make sure of that. Don't worry. Will should still be coming over so I'm going to have a talk with him. What did I used to always tell you when we were little kids and you liked to play the woman in distress and I had to be the hero?"

                     "You're my guy and I'm you girl." he smiled and poked me on the nosed softly. "Don't ever forget that." I snuggled into his chest and took a deep breath. When I heard a knock on the door I tensed and tried to get closer to him.

                      "Don't worry Syd. It's just Will." I relaxed a little bit and he stood up with me still in his arms. He slowly walked to the door and opened it. I could see the look on Will's face and it was worried, confused, and something else, but I was probably seeing things. He said a short hello and turned his attention to Jake. Jake took us back to sit on the couch and started explaining what happened. I fell asleep to the hum of his voice in his chest.
