The next morning Regina woke to a confused and angry Emma. "What's wrong baby?" Emma turned to look at her and Regina tensed.
"Oh, nothing you know. Just chilling with all these fucking wires attached to me. Why am I back on my Cancer medication Regina. Huh? Want to explain?"
All Regina can do it stare back at her. She's so taken away by what Emma just said. She just wanted Emma to get better.
"I didn't want back on it. I wanted to die alone. Jesus and then Henry comes into the picture and fucks it all up. He brings me here and I just wanted a one night stand with some hot chick but no. It turns out I fucking love her. This isn't how it's suppose to be, Regina."
"You love me?" Regina can only form that sentence before tears run down her face both from getting screamed at and from Emma dropping the 'love' word.
"Yes."
"Well now you're definitely not dying, okay?"
"Whatever. I just want to hug you but everywhere hurts still. I had breast cancer and they removed my breasts. I was going to tell you when we got home that night but you were already stripping and ...holy shit you looked perfect under the moon light. I hope you still like me."
Regina feels her heart swell and she starts to cry again wiping away the tears. "Of course I still like you Emma. I love you."
"I love you too, Regina."
They stare at each other for a few moments when a nurse comes in and asks Emma if she wants more pain medication. She obviously says yes and the nurse leaves the room.
"The nurse said you should start moving in a few days. You can take afternoon walks with me on my crutches."
"Shit. Regina, are you okay? I've been so tied up with myself to think about your injuries."
"I'm fine. Concussion, knee surgery, and neck therapy and I'm all good again."
"I'm sorry Regina. I'm so sorry baby."
"It's okay Emma. I'm more upset about how you are. I'll be good."
"Okay well wheres the Prince at? I need to see the kid."
"He'll be up tonight."
Just at that point they gave more drugs to Emma and she passes out.
When Emma woke up, she was met with a dark room. They blinds were closed, but it looked dark in between the cracks. It must be past 6. She pressed the nurse button.
"Where's Regina?" Emma asked the nurse when she came into the room. Emma lifted her arm and pointed to the empty bed.
"She's at therapy for her neck. She only has a few more appointments and she's all good to go. She just has to remember to keep movement going."
"Okay thank you. Do you know what time it is?"
"It's half past 6."
"Okay thanks."
The nurse left the room. Emma took this time to herself. She actually hadn't had any private time in a while. She started thinking about her life before Regina and Henry. She thought about it after. She got so caught up in her thoughts that when Henry came into the room with his mother she wasn't paying any attention to them. She couldn't hear them talking to her. It took Regina's hand on her arm to shake her out of her thoughts.
"Hey. Hey Emma?"
"Hi sorry."
"Anything you want to talk about?"
"No I'm sorry." Emma turned to Henry. "Hey kid. How's it going?"
"It's good. I'm happy to see you Emma. Last time I just said a few words."
"Yeah I'm sorry buddy." Emma turned back to Regina hoping Regina will shake her head confirming she can tell Henry.
"I'm sick so I sleep a lot." Regina nods.
"Yeah she's doing okay though so don't worry. She'll be okay."
Emma turned and looked at Regina with puppy dog eyes and turned to Henry. "I'll be okay."
