Chapter 3

He stood there waiting until Satotz begun his explanation. "These are the Numere Wetlands, also known as the Swildlers Swap. We must cross these wetlands to reach Phase Two of the Exam. This place is home to...", Satotz continues to ramble on about things that live there and blah blah. Kalen could definitely care less.

After his extremely lengthy explanation Satotz warns everyone about getting deceived. Some idiots talk about how it was impossible for them to be deceived, just as a beat up guy dragging a monkey-Satotz yells something about being the real examiner.

The idiots who were boasting earlier, start doubting the real Satotz and start questioning the obvious truth. Kalen sighed, it was seriously baffling to him how people just started believing some random guy that they had just met.

Then, out of absolutely nowhere, several cards fly towards both the real Satotz and the guy claiming to be the real examiner. Kalen realized that he recognized these cards and his thoughts returned to the magician from earlier.

"I see, I see. That settles it... You are the real one", the pink haired magician says whilst shuffling a deck of cards.

Satotz was able to catch the card, but the fake wasn't as lucky.

"Examiners are real hunters selected by the committee to perform this duty without pay. Any hunter, bearing the title we seek, would have been able to block that attack", the magician explains to those who were too slow to process what was going on.

The idiots that were doubting Satotz before, were now laughing to try and hide their embarrassment.

"I shall take that as a compliment. However, should you attack me again, for any reason, I will report you for turning on and examiner and you will be immediately disqualified. Are we clear?" Satotz says, completely unfazed by the attack.

"Of course", the magician agrees, smiling.

"He was attempting to confuse the applicants to lure some of them away", Satotz explains "You will be encountering such deception on a regular basis. I believe that a number of you were fooled into suspecting my identity? Satotz says, eying the people who had previously doubted him.

"Now do you understand? If you lose sight of me in the Numere Wetlands's fog, you won't live to see the Exam's second phase. Do bear that in mind. Then let us be on our way. Please follow me", Satotz explains and starts towards the fog.
