"Students, I hope you all know that three weeks are enough for your research and I want your all assignments in three weeks. Am I clear?" Prof Jack rolled eyes around eyes and everyone nodded in agreement with him.
The bell rang and no one dare to leave class before him. After he left, all of us screamed at once, "VACATION!!!!"
it is so much fun here, studying what you love and finding people who supports what you do. This life is what I needed to survive my forever.
"Hello Rashi." Rajan tapped on shoulder.
"Hey!" I hugged him.
"So, end of semester. How fast times go. Right?"
"Yeah. I mean isn't yesterday I walked in from that gate worrying I'm late for class."
"But you were first person to arrive at campus and you were assumed as janitor."
He giggled half way saying."I was nervous, okay?" I said.
"Okay.. Okay.. " He controlled his laughter.
"So, what brings you here today?" I asked.
"Your last semester day and also I wanted to know that you're going out with friends on trip or staying late at library?"
"I'm doing both. I mean I'm hanging out with my friends later today and going to library now to give back books and to get new books for research paper with is due strictly in three weeks."
"Umm.. Okay then."
"Spill it out." I said because his 'umm..okay..' does hide tension.
"I have to go back to country for few days and it's urgent. I can't leave you alone here so I just came by to see if there is any friend I can trust you with."
"You know all my friends. Aaron, Piku, Ghena and Sharon. We all be spending our vacation together. We promised."
"Okay I believe you. You promise me that you'll take care of yourself for few days?"
"I promise!"
He nodded."Wanna pinky swear? I mean if you don't belive me?"
"No, I believe you but going back after years it's just I'm bit nervous." He said.
"Jay will be there, right?"
"Yep and I know he promised to come here and live but he's stuck in work there."
"I know. I miss him and Shweta a lot. Shweta keeps in touch but he is busy barely calls in a weeks for few minutes. I hope he's okay."
He giggled when I say."What?" I eyed him.
"Nothing. Let's go now. I have much to pack."
-------------------------------------------Text received 'pool party @8'
"What time you're leaving for airport?"
"By seven. Why do you ask?" He raised his eyebrow. He saw I got text.
"Piku texted about party we are having at a friend's house which starts at eight. So, maybe I can say you goodbye at airport and go for party later. Please?" I know he doesn't trust my friends here but I do trust them, not all just Piku and Sharon. They both were first friends I made here.
"Okay, but home before 11 and I have you under watch by our neighbor. She will text me each and every update of yours. If you lie, I'll find out."
"Neighbor? Woah!"
I tease him a lot about neighbor across door Ms Heena Mathur. She has big crush on Rajan but Rajan shy out always. He tries to avoid her and gets mad when I bring her up in conversation to tease him.
"Behave!" He blurt.
"Are you seriously going to ignore her feelings for you?"
"Her feelings not mine. Also, I had dated someone for long time and married her. Life is mess without her but it's fine."
"I am sorry. I didn't meant that. I thought..."
He cut my words short saying,"I am fine Rashi, you don't have to worry."
We left for airport in silence. I was sitting there in silence regretting words I said to him earlier. I was way out of line. I apologize him twice before we left but he said its okay and smiled a bit.
"Here we say goodbye." He said.
"I am sorry again. Please forgive me."
"Will you stop apologizing over and over. It's fine. Now, smile and gave a proper goodbye."
"There's no proper goodbye. You're coming back soon or I'll come there and drag you."
He laughed.
"Of course I'm coming back in few days. I'll call you again and again for checking up on you. No roaming around late at night and no partying. I have my eyes."
"Yes father."
We shared hug and he left to India. I drive back to piku's house.
