not yet. not yet.

those were the last words that passed through my mind before dying. not yet. not supposed to get hit by that car yet. not supposed to hear my friend ask me those three words yet. those three dreaded words.

“are you okay?” he asked. a pretty stupid question, considering i’d just been hit by a car.

but i didn’t have time to be mad at him. i didn’t want mad to be my last emotion. sorrow, loss, scaredness. any of those.

“do something,”i told him. “do anything...you always do something.”it was true, too. he did always do something. he always had my back. our teacher got mad at us for talking in class, he’d take the blame. not that i wouldn’t, i just never did. even if i, for example, fell off a cliff, he’d jump off too. to cushion my landing. he’d do anything.

this time, he couldn’t. there was nothing anyone could do. not for me. i might as well just lay there and enjoy my last few moments.

i’d felt something burst inside of me, and i knew whatever it was, it wasn’t good.

i knew i would die. soon.

now, im here. i guess you could call this place pretty cool. when you get here, they give you two options.

1.have a good dream forever

2.get one wish granted

it sounds pretty stupid, but since here isn’t actually a real place in spacetime, it can be accomplished.

at first, i asked for infinite wishes, but they told me they have only a limited supply of wishes, and that they couldn’t do that. that got me down until i had the idea of asking for a machine that grants me infinite wishes. the machine was a ring, and when i pressed on the crystal, which was green, my favorite color, it granted any wish i wanted, although i had to be very specific.

“hey kid,”said a voice behind me.”stick with me. ill keep you safe.” i turned and saw a tall bald man leaning down to my height. he had a gray hat on.

“stop trying to abduct kids, Moe,” another guy next to him said jokingly.”my name’s Andrew,” he said, while sticking his hand out for a handshake. i shook it.

“hey,kid. cmon. im not-”

“stop trying to abduct kids, Moe,”i jumped. i had’nt even noticed there was another guy behind me. moe walked away in frustration.

“kids these days,” he murmered. “dont know who to be polite to.

“dont worry about him,” said the guy behind me.

“really, don’t,”said andrew.

“how old are you?” i asked andrew. he looked like he’d just become an adult. “eightteen?” he laughed like i was ‘the new kid’,which i sorta was.

“eighteen?!” he smiled. “i’m five-hundred and thirty-seven!”
