Yesterday I read my book from beginning to end. Sadly, it left me feeling unsatisfied. It felt like the pacing was too fast, and that things I had been really excited for were over too quickly. I don't know if it's because I'm too close to the story for an objective view. In the comments, I'd like to know how you feel about the pacing of Real Courage. I also humbly request advice on how to improve.
For reference, my word count is a little over 44K. That's a novella length. It's also similar in length to The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. By contrast, the last book I listened to was almost 400K words. Going from The Wheel of Time to Real Courage felt like a letdown, but rereading The Chronicles of Narnia was also somewhat of a letdown.
I don't know. I really appreciate any insight y'all can give me.
