Ever since I was very young my mom would always sing me
"You are my sunshine"
And now here I am lying in a hospital bed, my mom and the doctors are talking in the other room. I see my mom start to cry, pain in every tear that ran down her face.
They just told her that there was nothing else they could do to help me. Cancer is a tricky thing.
The doctors told my mom that she better spend the last moments she has with me.
She walks into the room with her brave face on. She looks at me and sits on the end of the bed. She stroked my face with her gentle hands and wipes a tear from my face.
"I don't have long do I mom?"
"Shh don't worry baby you'll be okay.
"I'm scared mom."
"Don't be...I'm here."
She looked into my pale eyes as she sang:
"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are grey, you'll never know dear, how much I love you, please don't take my sunshine away.
I looked at her as I weakly smiled and slowly closed my eyes, my last breath slow and steady.
"Please don't take my sunshine away...."
