The Halcyon Days - Chapter 7

" Tea is served ." The store employee said . 

Madam Delia took a sip of the tea , indicating that it isn't poisoned. I then sipped mine , going down to business. 

" I think we got off on the wrong foot , let me introduce myself . I am Aria Heldor . "

" Madam Delia, Lady Heldor . How can i help you , Lady Heldor? "

"I would like a outfit fit for maneuvering the outdoors . "

"For the outdoors , you say . What do you have in mind , Lady Heldor? I am but unaccustomed to making clothes for what you are requesting . Forgive me . " 

" It is fine . I think that this request might be a tad bit perplexing for you . I have some rough ideas and would like you to tailor it for me . " 

The employee reappeared carrying boards and ink , presumably for Madam Delia to sketch or take down notes. 

" The outdoors i speak of is the forest. I would like the outfit be made of sturdy and suitable material for such maneuvering. I was thinking along the lines of this ." 

I said , pulling out a sheet of parchment with a rough sketch done in graphite , handing it to  Madam Delia to have a glance .

" I believe your design is doable with a few modifications to make it more realistic to make. However , i find the skirt length to be of concern . Would it not just cover the knees, Lady Heldor? " 

Hmmm , i guess that it would be a concern if a aristocratic girl was ordering them .

" Madam Delia , as you have gathered , i might veer from common sense . However , to alleviate your , ever so kind , concern , i assure you that the skirt length would not be problematic . 

Rather , i intend for knee high length boots to be worn with it . 

However , i am unfamiliar with this town. Could i trouble you to help me piece together everything? 

I am willing to pay any reasonable sum for the inconvenience , alongside the service fee , of course . " 

And with that , the Madam's protest was silenced . 

Hmmm maybe 'silence' is too strong a word , perhaps 'put to rest'?  

And with that , the Madam's protest was put to rest . 

" Furthermore , i would like for you to gather some other things for me. " I requested , starting to read off everything i would like to go with the outfit from my brain . 

I could see the employee furiously scribbling what i was saying on a wooden board , alongside  Madam Delia  doing the same for the important points. 

" I understand that this is a rather large order and it would take some time . However , i am from out of town , i would like to know by when i could expect for it to be completed ." 

" I understand , Lady Heldor . I estimate it would take a month to prepare everything . Furthermore , for such a large order as this , my shop has a policy , whereby clients need a initial payment first , followed the the rest when the order is delivered . The initial payment is 20% the estimated price , with any unexpected costs added to the finial payment . " 

" I see , it is reasonable to ask for a deposit first for a large order . Pray tell , Madam Delia , how much is the initial payment ?" 

" It is 4 large silvers , Lady Heldor . However , i understand that a young lady such as yourself might not be able to make un upfront payment , thus , i shall also be accepting  a delayed payment, specially for you ."  

" I thank you for your generous offer , however , i believe the money would not be an issue." 

I said , reaching into my jacket's inner pocket , taking out a small unadorned pouch . 

As i was pulling out the small pouch , the contents inside created a jingling sound.  

From it , i took out 4 large silvers , setting them on the table . 

"I s-see , Lady Heldor . I am ever so thankful . " Madam Delia replied with understandable surprise . 

I mean , it's not everyday you find a young aristocratic girl in riding clothes , directly ordering herself , with money to back her .

After i concluded my business at Madam Delia's shop, it was almost late afternoon . 

I headed back the way i came , retracing my steps . 

Soon , i was reunited with my horse , riding back home .

Currency :

10 small coppers = 1 large copper 

10 large copper = 1 small silver 

10 small silvers = 1 large silver 

10 large silvers = 1 small gold 

10 small golds = 1 large gold 

Note : An ordinary loaf of bread costs about 2 small coppers . 

(A/N : I don't like putting stuff in the middle of the story , unless absolutely necessary , so stuff like the currency , appearance , ideas on how stuff looks like , would all be put at the end .)

Ik Ik , some people like to binge , but sorry you just gotta wait . This project was started for fun so i intend to upload/ write whenever i feel like . 

Note to the non existent people , it could be months on end , so just wait for the writing bug to hit me . 

SOoooooo , since this is a fantasy world , the formal speech / etiquette / stuff  can be different . I'm saying this because i really am not an expert at formal speech and stuff .
