"Jesus Christ what's all this smoke?" I coughed slightly as I exited the Mess Hall, the troublesome trio of Max, Neil and Nikki trailing behind me.

"Sorry, Avery, the old camp-mobile must be acting up." David replied. Honestly, if it was a belching smoke, that seemed a little more serious than 'acting up'. I frowned as the redhead straightened up. There was an allium pinned to his shirt and a bouquet of roses in his right hand. Was he going somewhere?

"Hold on," Max pushed past me slightly, "Flowers? Are you going to prom?"

"Oh no, I've got a date tonight!" He smiled. Oh yeah, Bonquisha. My heart dropped slightly, but I pushed it aside and filled my face with a grin and fake pep. The three kids in front of me paused, blinking rapidly in confusion.

"A date? You?" Nikki broke the silence first, pointing to David.

"Is that really so hard to believe?" The counsellor queried.

"Honestly? Yeah." Neil didn't sugarcoat it at all. "I really just thought it was some kind of Ken Doll situation down there." He shrugged, pointing in the direction of his crotch. My eyes widened at the boy's nerve, trying to suppress a laugh. Thanks for making me think about that, Neil.

"Well you're wrong. I happen to be a bit of a hopeless romantic." Not really something you wanted to admit to... But he had the spirit. I tried not to imagine what dating David would entail, not wanting to make my already depressing situation worse.

"Oh, hopeless for sure." Max rolled his eyes.

"So who's the lucky person?" Nikki asked sweetly, the only one out of us four who actually gave a shit. "How'd you meet them? Have you," She giggled mischievously, "Held hands?"

"Well, technically I met her online, but I'd consider out first meeting the premiere of Preston's play." I searched around for an out of the situation, not wanting to be there much longer.

"Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait." Max instructed, walking over to David and climbing up his lean frame until he was level with his head hands gripping the fabric of his Camp Counsellor t-shirt. "David? Are you dating Bonquisha?!"

"Oh, you remember her!" He cried happily. Yup, definitely wanting to leave. Maybe Gwen would let me rant out my emotions while she disinterestedly reads some weird, porny book.

"This is the best day of my life!" The black haired boy was in utter hysteria. He jumped back down to the floor, laughing his heart out as he rolled round on the ground.

"You've been seeing her this whole time?" Neil spouted tone incredulous.

"Sure have! We really hit it off. She says I'm 'cute af', which I assume means 'and fun'." Of course he thought it meant that. Max guffawed louder at this.

"Awww... It doesn't." Nikki told him. "Well this really is a bummer, we all thought you'd end up with Avery." She added. Those little shits- I'm going to kill them.

"Avery?" David chuckled nervously, face flushed. "Well, I mean they're my co-worker! They're truly a wonderful person, but-" I was thankful for the sound of a loud car horn cutting off what was most likely about to be something painful to listen to. The vehicle that had pulled resembled a monster truck only with smaller wheels, painted hot pink with black flames. I wasn't really surprised when the buff woman stepped out of it, striding over to the redhead. She looked... Unhappy.

"Bon-Bon? What are you doing here?" Bon-Bon?! David... What the fuck. "I'm not supposed to pick you up for another hour!"

"Fucking Bon-Bon?" Max screamed with laughter, barely able to contain himself. I wanted to scold him for laughing at the turquoise eyed man, but I too found the nickname ridiculous.
