Chapter 15: The Project

I've had a hard time swallowing my food while we were eating. Hindi ko maintindihan kung ano ang kakaibang kaba na nararamdaman ko habang nanonood ng news.

"Samantalang, naiulat ng National Airlines ang isang eroplanong sumadsad sa Cabarroguis, kahapon. Napag-alaman na ang eroplano ay nanggaling sa Tuguegarao at naglalaman ng animnapu't-pitong katao. Dalawampu't-tatlo ang nahanap na, at ang ilan ay hinahanap pa rin."

Kauuwi ko pa lang sa bahay, 'yan agad ang bungad sa balita.

"Hindi ba nasa Tuguegarao si Mom?" Bigla akong kinutuban sa tanong ni Shaun. I glared at him and saw him shaking his head.

"Stop it, Shaun." I said and looked away,

"But she's there, right? What if tumuloy siya sa pag-uwi kahapon? But I hope it's not her," napatingin naman ako kay Dad. He can't stay steady right now, he stood up and called someone on the phone.

"You're worrying Dad," I said and glared at him. He just shrugged.

"I am just saying, just look." He pointed at the TV screen again. Napatingin ako at pinanood ang isang ini-interview. Looks like she is a businesswoman with her suit.

"Shaun, call your Mom. Shanice, try mong tawagan ang Tita Demi mo." Dad commanded, namumutla. I nodded and took my phone, I tried contacting Tita Demi but no one's answering the phone.

I stood up straight when the main door opened, and I saw Mom with her luggage.

Agad tumakbo si Dad para yakapin siya, her eyes widened and stared somewhere.

Oh, gosh!

It's good to see her again.

I must admit that her absence these past few days was something I would never be used to. Kahit paano, kahit lagi kaming nag-aaway, kahit hindi maganda ang relasyon namin, I can't still deny that she's my mother. She's Shanel, I am Shanice, and I won't be Shanice without Shanel.

Mom's hands slowly wrapped over Dad's body. I felt something inside me, I wanted to cry. I wanted to let all my emotions out. Because it looks like my parents are being reconciled.

"Where have you been?" Dad asked, tinitigan ko si Mom, she's just staring somewhere without breaking the hug. But she didn't answer Dad's question.

"Mom!" Shaun ran towards them and hugged our parents. Pinagmamasdan ko silang tatlo na magyakapan,

I wish... I wish we're always like this.

Kinabukasan,

Lunch time came,

Magkakasama kaming lahat sa iisang table just like the usual. Wala nga lamang sina Taubin, Szhan, Kali, at Aizren.

Kitang-kita ko ang lungkot ni Kia, while Lav beside her is also silent. I think, if Kia's in the mood, they will fight just like usual. But it's different now.

Isa-isa ko silang tiningnan.

Cendrix is just silent as usual, scooping on his ice cream. As time goes by, I can feel his mysterious aura. Krishianna's laughing, nagka-kwentuhan kasi sila ni Lauren habang kumakain. Same goes with Kheiro and Shaun. My gaze stopped on Mattheo.

The Casanova,

Obviously, he likes flirting around. Ilang beses ko na rin naman siyang nakitang may kasamang iba't-ibang babae. And all of them were pretty and looks rich. Magaganda ang mga tipo ni Mattheo kasi aaminin ko namang hindi naman basta-basta ang visuals niya.
