Morning rises quickly the next day.
Feeling the soft light shine between to slit of my curtain, my eyes flutter open ever so slowly.
It's morning already.
I thought to myself, inhaling and exhaling deeply.
I should make breakfast.
Pulling back the sheets, I slide my legs from underneath and place them on the cold wooden floor, which sent a chill through my spine.
To be honest, leaving my warm covers made my body cry out desperately.
Rising from the bed, I slide open my paper thin door and exit the room quietly.
Carefully, as to not wake Kotaro.
I wonder If he is still sleeping.
I start to think, as I sneak over quietly to the room across the hall, peeking in.
As to be expected, Kotaro had not been lying in his bed.
Sighing in disappointment, I drag my felt to the kitchen.
"He's never here.." I mumble underneath my breath. "Would it kill him to at least stay from breakfast." As the pain begins to well deep inside my heart, I hear the faint noise of the townspeople from outside.
I didn't stop to think, running quickly to the front door.
Cracking it open, just enough to see what had been going on.
"Please, we don't have much food here!" The middle-aged woman pleads. "If you take what we have now, we won't have any food for the village.."
"Shaddup you old hag! This is none of yer damn business. Now move aside!" The guard yells harshly, placing his hand on top of the sword he had, hanging from his sash.
"Please, I beg of you!" She pleas, crying uncontrollably.
"Dammit woman! I said move!" He yells once more, before quickly drawing his sword.
No!
Before I could think, my body moves for me, dashing over toward the women on despair and shielding her with my body.
"Ah.." I groan in pain, feeling the warmth of my blood spilling from the wound that had just been made.
"Oh my!!" The woman cries our worriedly. "Milady!" She panics.
As I pressed my side in hopes of slowing the bleeding, I kneel down, shooting a flare toward the guardsmen.
"What...is wrong..with you?" I breath heavily. "She is a woman...to strike her like you did me..would be unforgivable.." I groan, letting out a small cry of pain.
"Y-yeah, you're the stupid bitch who got in my way. This hag had it coming." He shouts, sweat beading from his forehead in concern.
"What is wrong with you?!" The woman cries out.
"He just cut her.."
"How could he call himself a man.."
"She's bleeding badly.."
"We need to get help."
I hear the townspeople talk amongst themselves.
"Sh-she didn't do anything to you." I left out, "You were messing with her.." I groan in pain.
