Chapter 19 ~ Home

I didn't know exactly where I was going but I could think of one place and one place only where I would feel welcomed.

I pay a quick visit to Leia explaining that I'll be away for a while. She expresses her concern but eventually lets me go as she tears up.

"I'm gonna miss you Cee, you better call me every hour. I love you!" She says blowing me kisses as I exit her apartment.

"I will, I love you too!" I say catching her kisses as I start to cry.

I quickly head to my apartment packing some clothes and snacks for my journey. These hot Cheetos looking real good rn!

I hail a cab, watching the evening traffic as NYC passes in a blur. I soon arrive at JFK and board a plane to Spain. The money I had used for the plane ticket was only supposed to be used for emergencies; this was technically an emergency. I just wanted to forget all the problems in my life for a while and this seemed like the only way.

The nearly 8 hour journey couldn't go any slower, the man seated next to me obnoxiously chewing his Takis and the crying baby that could be heard in the distance was driving me onto the brink of insanity.

"Want some?" The man says offering me his Takis packet.

"No I'm good, thank you!" I sigh as I lean back and rest my eyes.

"Are you sure?" I open my eyes and I am met with the man right in my face, his spittle flying out of his mouth upon talking.

"Absolutely." I stretch a forced smile, wiping away the spit on my face.

"I'm John."

"Celeste, nice to meet you John!"

"Nice to meet you too Celeste." He smiles extending his hand. I shake his hand as I return to resting my eyes.

"So why you off to Spain?"

I knew this was gonna be a long journey, I just hoped I would survive it and be able to tell the tale.

8 hours later...

After what feels like forever I finally arrive to my destination. Glad to be away from John I quickly navigate my way around the airport as I spot my mom, grandma and cousin.

They wave frantically as a big grin spreads across my face. I run across the airport, embracing them.

"Celeste look at you, all grown up, such a beautiful women you've become!"

"Abuelita, I missed you. And you too Mama." I say kissing them both.

"What about me, I don't get a kiss. Wow Celeste, you broke my heart!" My cousin says as he holds his heart in exaggeration.

"Ale, I didn't forget about you!" I ruffle his hair and kiss his cheek.

"Celeste, I'm blushing." He fans himself.

"Don't push it Alejandro." I shove him before we both burst out laughing.

Alejandro and I had grown up together, literally attached to the hip. We did everything together, from going to school and even shopping. Moving away from Spain was hard but when Alejandro said he would personally ship me there if I didn't go, I had to. His approval meant a lot so I agreed. And now here I was, back home. It felt good to be back!

As we are leaving the airport, I spot John and wave him goodbye, I'll probably never see the man again!

"See you soon John!" I shout.
