*Patrick's POV*
Angerly, I slammed my chopsticks down on the table. Stuid things. How did anyone ever eat with them? Why did they exist? Shaking my head, I sighed and picked the utensils up again, this time just using them to stab a peice of chickenand put it in my mouth.
"You know that's not how you use chopsticks, right?"
Startled, I didn't say anything I just sat there staring at the boy who had just spoken to me while slowly chewing and swallowing the chicken.
He flashed a handsome smile and laughed, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. "Sorry, I didn't mean to freak you out."
I smiled hesitatnly. "Yeah, well consider me freaked," I joked. What was I doing?
He gestured to the booth seat across from me. "Can... Can I sit down?"
"Sure." I moved some of my stray napkins and my wallet from off the table so that he could sit comfortably. "Be my guest."
"Thanks. I'm Pete, by the way."
Yeah, I know, I wanted to say. Pete Wentz was only the most desirable kid in the senior class. He was handsome, athletic, and a complete dork, but in a way that made hm totally cool in every way. He was always making people laugh. Girls were constantly all over him. I, of course, wanted to be too, but I wasn't sure I was ready for people knowing I was gay. Besides, if Pete knew, I'd probably just scare him off. Now I simply shrugged. "You're on the soccer team at school, right?"
He smiled, nodding. "You caught me."
I blushed slightly and cused myself for it. He must have noticed and his smile got wider, so i just looked down. I decided to clear the air and introduce myself. As a lowly gay kid in the sophomore class, I was pretty sure he'[d never seen me before. "I-I'm Patrick."
He nodded. "Yeah. I know."
"What?" He knew? What did that mean?
He sighed and put his hands together on the table, studdying his thumbs. "Look, Patrick... There's something you should know about me."
I frowned. "I'm listening."
He took a deep breath. "The truth is... I'm kinda... into other guys..."
I was silent for a good thirty seconds before i finally choked out. "Why are you telling me this?"
"Because I like you, Patrick."
I shook my head. "No. Nope. No." Hastily, I gathered all my things and stuffed them into my pockets. This was a prank. This had to be a prank. There was no way in hell Pete freaking Wentz would ever notice me, let alone develop feelings for me. "I... I have to go."
"Patrick, wait." He said grabbing my hand.
I was standing now. "Look, Wentz, I dont know who put you up to this, but I'm not buying it. Just... I know you're not gay. Leave me alone."
As I began to leave I heard him call from behind me, "I like you! I do. You can leave, but that doesn't change anything. Patrick Stump, I like you a lot. I have tried to ignore the fact that I like you for a long time, but I just can't. The only other person who knows is Andy Hurley."
I turned back aroud to face him. "You don't even know if I'm gay."
"Would you still be standing here if you weren't?"
I sighed. "You're ridiculous." It was then that I realized how close he'd gotten to me. Just one more step and some standing on my tip toes and there would be no space between us. My breath hitched my throat. He smirked and took that final step forward. "Pete..." I breathed.
He smiled softly at me. "I promise you i'm not laying games with you, Patrick," he whispered, his lips just an inch or so from mine.
"How can I be sure?"
"If I were playing a joke on you, would i do this?" Then, in that moment, he leaned down and pressed his lips gently to mine. Little by little, his hands found my waist and my arms snaked around his neck. His tongue pushed itself into mouth. We stood there for what seemed like forever, just kissing in the middle of our local Panda Express. Luckily, we were the only customers in there, but i was sure the employees were all staring.
Slowly, he pulled away and rested his forehead against mine. "Patrick Stump, I love you. I have been in love with you since the first time I ever saw you enter our high school -- your freshman year."
I blinked. To keep myself for saying anything stupid, I smiled and kissed him deeply.
"So do you believe me?" Pete chuckled when he pulled away again.
I nodded. "Yeah. I believe you."
He smiled widely, his enitre face lighting up, and leaned in to place a kiss on my lips. "Will you... be mine?"
I nodded, without even giving it a second thought. "Yes, Pete. I will be your boyfriend."
